Official ESP club

Shamelessly posting sum ESP LTD porn: my B-336SR after a great setup and fret leveling - sounds incredible, plays like butter, perfect intonation all the way up the neck, EMG's are VERY hot and the action is lower than a politicians morals.

Interestingly enough I bought the hardshell case from someone on the bay described as an LTD B series bass universal case. Well, it did not fit either my B-206SM or the B-336SR (which are almost identical in body shape and size). I had to peel the case apart, re-cut the foam to fit, re-glue the insides back together and reattach the velvet - but as you can see, the case fits like a glove now. Whew.

This is the only bass I've ever seriously lusted after... and she's perfect!!! Thanks to Yacek for the excellent setup/fretwork!

That bass looks killer, rtav. Your practice space looks great too!

Seb_VitusFreak. The one thing better than lessons is just playing that thing day in, day out. That way, when you take expensive lessons, you'll be getting the maximum out of them :)

Does anybody know for sure what it is?
I think it's a B-335 but the website says they are string-thru-body and this one is not.

The bridge looks like Rtav's B-336 and it's hard to tell if it has EMGs but it looks possible.

And that's alder right? Looks a little dark but that could be the wood stain or the photography.

Thanks for all helps.

hi guys. im Dave. Im a jackson player but am interested in ec414fm bass. i love emg pups but i wantto know how the neck feels. is it like jackson necks? is it heavy? is it head heavy? balanced well/ etc. any comments are welcome good and bad.

I've got the F205. It's a very similar bass. It isn't heavy and the neck is comfy and fast. It's a thinner neck and easy to play. I've got the EMG HZ's in mine but the same pre. It's got a pretty full sound but I'd rather have the DC's like the one you're considering.

I've got an EC-404FM which is the previous model, but the same as the current EC-414.

The neck is very comfortable. It's labeled as 'thin U shape' but I personally don't think it's all that thin at all. I play mine w/a 4" suede backed strap and don't get any neck dive at all. These have active EMG 35s installed from the factory but w/a passive preamp. I've just ordered a EMG BTC System for mine so i can cut and boost the bass ands treble individually and will install it next week. These ECs are killer LP style basses.

I'll join, why not lol -

ESP f-4E, I was looking into getting a warwick, but saw an ebony topped 4 and after wiping the drool from my mouth (and changing my shirt) I got it, and I'm rather happy with it. I took out the foam under the pickups and replaced it with springs around the screws (wanted the pickups higher, and I just hate foam...) and there is so much ebony on this thing, I love it lol I always found the look of the wood to be incredible, plus the sound is very interesting, rather trebly, but the neckthrough design and mahogany body really helps to balance the sound.

But there is bad news... there are at least 3 frets that I know of that are high and I don't have a radius block so I'm gonna live with it lol

How are the necks and string spacing on the ESP five strings?

I'm looking for very thin necks and narrow string spacing like Ibanez SR series.
I like ESP's straight string path over the nut, though, since it will help keep the bass in tune when I use a whammy bar.
Also they look sharp and some models come with EMGs, I understand.

I also love the SR necks and spacing. I'm a 5'er guy. My F series is very comfortable to play. It's a 35 scale but the neck has that thin fast feel, to me. The spacing is tighter and comfy for tapping, chordal, and picking. Mine has the EMG HZ's and EMG B64 pre. It sound pretty good. I'd like to swap the pups out for the DC's, though.
