While I am here.....Can I get a number? I have a H9 unit that I picked up about a month ago and need to sell some pedals thanks to this bad boy! Anyone using the Source Audio Reflex via midi as their expression controller. I would like to run a foot switch and an expression pedal.

Once I have settings I like I rarely tweak them, so this should work with a PC.

Hey folks,

I'd have the H9 standard to use with guitar and bass. Great pedal... defies description compared to others.

My two questions are this:
  • What are some really basic good settings to use for bass in a worship setting? We play light rock mostly. I don't think the congregation wants to start hearing anything too crazy from their bassist.

  • How do switch presets easily up-and-down? I know we have the right footswitch. But to change direction involves the big encoder knob. I haven't comfortably and reliably stomped on that knob. (Can I break it?)

    Part of my "problem" here is that at home I use the iOS all the time, so just using the H9 itself seems awkward. But I don't see myself using my iphone on-stage.

The reduced cost upgrade program is long over. To max out, you need to simply hit the following targets:

H9 Core - 30 algorithms required to MaxOut
H9 Harmonizer - 20 algorithms required to MaxOut

Most are 19.99. So, 599.70$ to max out a Core, 399.80$ to upgrade a standard H9.

The H9 app is really nice to have, but you can always use H9 Control with a PC/Mac. Even live you still can tweak on the unit itself, it just involves a slight bit of menu diving---the X, Y, and Z knobs access the three most important parameters for any given preset/algorithm, so you hit one and then use the big knob to adjust. By holding one of those buttons (I think) you can further cycle through the rest of the parameters.

Yes, I'll get you a number in a bit, welcome! I also use the Reflex for MIDI expression for my two H9s. Works great.

For worship music on bass you can add some shimmer with a Crystals sound or some chorus-like thickening with Micropitch. Those are the more subtle effects that I think are useful. There are off course things like an octaver or phaser that you could try. I have infrequently used things like the Diatonic and Harmodulator algorithms for some songs that the bass was driving.

Like nshuman said, the special Max Out program is over. You can still Max Out an H9 at a very inefficient cost.

I used to have Digitech FS3Xs when I had Factor pedals, but eventually I moved to MIDI exclusively (prior to upgrading to H9s). The setup you're suggesting should work.

So as Club Founder I'm pretty upset to report that one of my H9s just stopped working today; it's ironic that it happened when this thread has a minor flurry of activity for the first time in a while. It's just over a year old I think, I don't remember their warranty terms. The guys in the Eventide forums are on it, but if nothing else it's going to be a hassle to have to send it back in.

I hope they were able to help. That is my number one worry with mine. So much of my sound is in that little box.

I have confirmation that they received it earlier this week and are working on it. They said they would repair it under warranty because it's "close enough" to the one year mark. On the one hand I'm grateful; on the other hand, I am nervous going forward that a repeat occurrence or an issue with my second H9 will not be covered. I am very curious to hear what they say about it. An issue with my Pitchfactor a few years ago they chalked up to a "bad resistor."

What is this list? If it is TalkBassers who use Eventides, sign me up. I don't have the H9, but use both the Modfactor and Pitchfactor.

Although I gig with neither. Strictly a home studio / fun thing for me.

That used to be my combo before I upgraded! Sometimes I miss the mojo of the knobs, though I'm very happy with what I have now.
