I'm pretty sure you guys have talked me into buying an American.

I've avoided the classified, now I guess I'll have to start avoiding the Effects section too . Luckily this pedal is only $30

After months of reading all the good things about the American (even with surprising lack of clips other than JohnK's), I finally pulled the trigger on one. It didn't even require thought, just Amazon's "Hey you bought this, you might like this!", and the mental realization of "dude, it's $30, you spent twice that amount on bourbon last weekend".

Take the back cover off first. That way you can hold the foot switch still and keep it from turning. Other than that quite simple as stated before.

So take the back cover off... hold the foot switch, loosen the nut around the switch, pull the knob covers off, and then the cover comes off?

You also have to take the nuts off each pot and the side jacks.

I just used a small crescent wrench but that would work too.

So, I just impulsed on a Joyo Metal dist. The big black one..... Hopefully itll be here in a couple weeks. Its supposed to be based off the metal muff. Cant wait to try it. If its anything like the American and Cali pedals' dist, this thing is gonna effin rip!

How are the California and British for bass compared to American? Or is the American the one to get?

IMO, it's a toss up between the Brit and the American (I have both), but I suppose if I could only have one, i'd go with the American.

I'm with johnk on this one. The British works perfectly well, I just like the flavor of the Americans dirt a little better. The British, imo is a little "darker". I'm no good at describing tone, but the British is now my always on toneshaper and the American is my melt your face off distortion/fuzz.

I'm looking for low gain, crunchy rather than creamy, textured OD. My amp does almost too much of the creamy thing. Bright is good in my book, too. I guess it will be American then. Agro is my higher gain, coarser, heavier OD.

My 'Murican got here this afternoon, 30 minutes of sanding, painting, laquering, sanding, and scrubbing later and I'm there. I used High Temperature Grill paint, has a really neat matte sheen when mixed with laquer and a finishing sponge

I may be behind the times here, but I was just browsing Amazon and saw they have the ironman series pedals now. Anyone have any of these? Are they copies of other pedals too, or are they meant to be their own thing?
