Gotta say guys. What everyone is doing is a testament to how good these pedals are. No other 30$ pedal, that I know of, gets all this refinish love.
Looks like you need to buy several more to decorate. So I need a vote of sorts. Which one would you guys think best fits the American? Or looks the coolest. I know whichever one I pick will need to be trimmed of course.

I'm liking the these. I've kind of narrowed it down to these. Still want opinions. Thanks guys.

Is the California good on bass?
I'm not sure I would want to do this to a $100+ pedal haha. I think the fact that they are only $30 and are very good for that price, plus their paint jobs stock are horrid IMO, helps![]()
I'm guessing less warm, brighter, more high-gain since it tries to copy the mesa sound? Or am I wrong?
Not to praise the American even more but I was messing with some different settings and this thing just rips! It can be a great preamp or tone shaper which is what I use it primarily for but I decided to try its distortion capabilities. Oh. My. God. This thing gets full on fuzz pretty much. Especially with the help of my Bottle Rocket. So much versatility for $30 bucks. Mind is blown and so are my eardrums.
That's why I decided to use it as a heavy dist. I never tried it out for that. I did a couple weekends ago and got the same exact reaction you did. In fact, if you can find my original post on it when I discovered that, I think it looks a lot like your reaction above. I couldn't believe how it sounded with the drive and voice cranked. Just ridiculous.
That thing has turned into my go to dirt. With the sft in front it's better than most everything I've tried.I think that is where the EQ becomes very important on the American. When I was teaching my dad to use the American/AC/British, on guitar and bass, I would quickly run into the classic distortion situation where it just gets too crazy in the mids or treble. But, you just play with the EQ and, bam, you find yet another completely usable sound at whatever drive setting you are using.
Twenty bucks says it drops tons of low end. Just a guess.Anyone try out a Joyo Extreme Metal?
You could nearly buy one and try it out yourself for that much!Twenty bucks says it drops tons of low end. Just a guess.
Second Joyo comp pedal with non working footswitch. I'll wait on the opti-fet.
