Official Joyo Club Part 2: Beyond Thunderclone

I liked the sparrow, but ultimately I felt with its scoop it fought with any eq or OD I used before it and it didn't have enough gain on tap to drive a Power Amp if I needed to. I swapped it out in my board for a MXR M81, and couldn't be happier.
Exactly, I generally run the mid control on my StingRay5 at 50% to 100% boost depending on the song when using the Sparrow (unless it's a dub-type song).
I should have just bit the bullet & got the M81 or maybe a used Tech 21 Para-Driver or VT Bass DI.

Well got bored with my Joyo UD and decided to give it a face lift. Had a friend powder coat it for fun... and now I want it back on the board!
Also had a ehx muff done as well.

I feel like the low end is pretty huge on it too compared to the actual OCD
Agree completely. After the positive reviews here then hearing a few guitarist friends say the Joyo was too dark I knew it was for me. The clean blend just put it over the top for me. Thinking of stacking it with a Tai Chi maybe/probably. (as a Christmas present to myself) ;)

Edit: For clarification referring to "clean blend" is running the UD into a Boss LS-2 set at A+B with a 50/50 blend. I fine tune the blend using the level & gain controls on the UD.

Absolutely love my UD, but always hated the paint job. So the other day I took it apart, sanded it back put it back together. Up to the last bit, putting the nut back over the toggle switch and SNAP. Lucky its a cheap replacement. Still annoying though.

The toggle broke? Pics when you get it back together please.

LOL..... well you know the old saying, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" It could be more the color scheme though. Always been fond of the colors of my TU-2 & LS-2. Plus the Tai Chi graphics would match the ink on my left arm. Besides like I said earlier, paint don't affect sound. ;)
