I believe Fender uses Desert Sand to make it look like the faded fiesta on Pino's own bass.
I need a fiesta red P myself.
So the Brown Truck of Love dropped off my new Lakland today. It's a Skyline Joe Osborn 5 CS crafted in Indonesia and has been plekked.
The craftsmanship is top, top notch. No gaps, no runs, no finish flaws. Tight, tight, tight.
The action is like no other bass I have ever played at any price (although I've not played a US Lakland)!

Holy cow!!!!! That is a thing of beauty. Judging by the Plek'd and Chi'd Lakie I had, I'm sure it plays and sounds dreamy.

Congrats Grateful! That's a great looking bass! Is the body wood ash? I know the Skylines are supposed to be ash, but it almost looks like alder in the pictures due to the light grain pattern.
That JO5 with Chi's looks killer! Major congrats, I've heard a couple clips of the Chi's, and they sound great. They can do pretty much anything and sound great doing it. I'm a Bart freak, and the Chi's would probably to aggressive for me (I constantly dig when I play), but for a player with a lighter touch, the Chi's are golden!
I'll agree with that. I've had my Skyline JO4 with CS pups for a month and it's really teaching me to play more consistent. It's almost like the CS pickups have a much greater sensitivity than my other basses. Sure is a step up from my 20 yr old Ibanez SR800!!!
Mine has some cosmetic issues so my dealer is having another one sent for me. Don't know how long it will take but at least I've still got this one to play.
Say, I've noticed that mine has quite a volume difference between the pickups. The bridge pickup has about 60% volume of the neck pickup. I haven't bothered mentioning it to the shop since they are replacing it but is this normal? I sure hope it's just this one cause it's a real pain adjusting levels when I tweak the pickup volumes.
Sure love that 5er in the burst with tort. That's the same color I got and it's so nice.
