That's what I'm thinking. I have never been a steel fan, but coated, I think, is worth a looksy.

I think Black Beauties would be really cool on either your JO or 4-07. I think Ferg used them on his old ash/maple natural jo5 and it looked great. That is, if you like coated strings.

Just as a suggestion, try the Fodera stainless steels. I used nickels for years and got the steels by accident once. I didn't notice that they were even steel strings at first because they didn't chew up my fingers like other steel strings had done before. They really opened up the sound on a dark bass for me, and they're very easy on the fingers. win/win in my book.

I might check them out Evan...thanks! I am reall drawn to chrome against wood, and these strings are coated silver so It might be what I'm looking for , but I think black strings would look pretty good on the 4-07.

They look good but sound kinda dark IMHO -

That bass reminds me visually of a T-40. I think the narrow pickups effectuate the body in a good way...

now I'm rambling...too much sake:-)

I thought about it today and I put my Nordy in the classifieds...

I totally love that bass but honestly I'm not really the type of guy that can go back and forth between basses with my 55-94 being strung E-C and I'm going to do the same think with that LOG bass the Nordy would hardly get played.

I do want a jazz bass in my arsenal just in case every blue moon I need one and so I'm going to pick up a DJ 4 or 5 string. I'd take a Joe Osborn also but I think I'd prefer the DJ right now.

We'll see.

I am turning into one of you guys.
