I do need a LOG bass AND a DJ5 to complement my JO5, right? That's required, right?

Ok, so I'm just going to take a stab at this....Next week I am getting a Indo-Plek JO5. sunburst with rosewood(sshhwwing).
Does anyone have a tort guard they want to sell? Or trade for a Blue/Grey Pearl guard for a DJ5?

Yeah, I went w/ MM covers, thanks to Carl's advice. The purpleheart guard wouldn't have matched up w/ the Chi chrome surround on the br pup (those MM screw cutouts and all). Plus I'm used to the feel of my thumb anchor on the br pup, so zero adjustment time. The bass wouldn't have looked as good w/ a different PG (plastic), and I think w/ it's unique look that the MM covers will look better than the chrome Chis. I also get a kick outta knowing that it has a secret "under the hood".

Unless a bunch of other guys send in their 55s, and talk 'em into doing the mod.... I'll have the only "secret Chi" bass. So, it's a win/win/win/WIN scenario :hyper:!! YES!!

This bass is as hard to love electronically as it is easy to love in the feel and sound department. As soon as I can get my finances together, I think I'll be on the market for a *passive* freaking bass.

Man! Surely, Dan and crew would fix it for ya. 'Course shipping would cost you quite a bit I suppose.

My 55 has given me an intermittent problem about three times in the past two years. I plug it in and get nothing, no sound :confused:. So, I start the problem hunt: checking every possibility. I run 2 amps, one clean and one effected out of a Radial ABY splitter. When the problem first occurred, I tried playing the bass in passive, still nothing. Plug it directly into an amp, nothing. In the past, it just started working on it's own while I am doing my checks. Last time, I took the back cover off and bent the contact on the jack a little to make sure it's getting a contact. I use a Monster cable, and I've heard they destroy jacks, but mine is newer (who knows though how long it was at GC or a warehouse---could be the older "BAD" style). Anyways, anybody had this happen or have a clue what could be causing it?? It's never quit in the middle, always happens when I first plug it in :confused:.

Dude, your avatar 55 is the hottest black bass on TB! You gotta post those pics again. I love my 55 w/ it's BEM board, but yours is all kinds of a different sexy!

Wow, that would be stressful if it happened onstage. I had that happen before a gig one night, but thankfully, it was the pub's soundboard.

We're in the market for a soundboard of our own because we've had stuff like that happen just too often lately...

Hey Guys,

Ik scored a new Lakland last friday. The sad part is, that I had to trade in my dj4 for it.

As some of you may remember I posted my white rosewood dj4 on here a while ago. I loved the bass, except for the weight. It weighed 9.5lbs, which apparently was pretty average for a skyline. I'm spoiled with always playing sub 9 lbs basses and I was surprised that such a smale increase in weight could have such an effect on my comfort. I couldn't get used to the weight, so I decided to get rid of the dj4. I put it up for sale/trade with no specific intention to get another lakland. Just a light bass that I liked. Here in Belgium there aren't that much 2nd hand laklands for sale, so I had little chance of finding a light lakland 2nd hand. And my girlfriend would have killed me if I spent another 400euros extra on buying a new one, assuming I could find a light new one here.

I got lucky however. One day after I had put my dj for sale, someone replied asking if I was interested in trading with his 4402. I answered that I was interested if it was a light 4402. I got lucky, it weighed only 8,6lbs, which is very light for a 4402. The guy lived around my corner so I went to him and we both liked eachothers basses and changed. We were both happy.

The 4402 is a 2003 model, with bart pickups and pre-amp. It's a whole different animal than my dj4. More modern, but very versatile. It plays amazing and is so nice and light hanging around my shoulders. I'm glad I don't have to give up my log nr. and still own a lakland.

One thing about the bass is curious however. It allready has playingwear on the maple fretboard. Isn't this pretty fast for a bas that was built in 2003 and has been played for like 4 years. I thought only old basses had this kind of wear after years of playing. The guy said he played this bass exclusively for the past few years since he got it. So he played it a lot. Anyone else allready had this experience? And is it bad for the fretboard? It allso has some wear on the side of the fretboard. I think this is because the fret edges were sanded and some of the finish was sanded of with it.

If it was his main axe I don't know how odd that is (if he gigged a lot). I've been doing 2 gigs a week for 6 months with my Fretless JO as my main axe and the neck definitely looks worn in ( I clean off the fingerboard regularly). If the guy didn't clean the board, I could see that wear happening.

I am usually not a trans white kinda guy but that looks really nice!!!
