I can get a lot of happenin' tones out of that bass! Pup placement isn't quite the same, but it's great for adding that really deep low end... I run it 90% of the time centered. We'll see how it sits next weekend as I have my first actual band thing with it. Of course, it might be configured as a fretless by then...

so it turns out BC doesn't have much in the way of 55-94's. i figured i'll check with a couple other dealers before just looking for a used one in good condition that matches one of my color options.

Man... that's awesome. I wish that Tim could finish my callowhill in the span of a week. I guess it doesn't work like that. Michael (tobias) and Roger (sadowsky) are all local to me, but I doubt I could "borrow" a bass. Maybe I could buy one for the weekend.

UPDATE - DIRECT FROM DAN:

1) he would like you to bring in basses OTHER than laklands as well.REALLY wants to compare some newer Sadowsky's MTDs, Callowhill, etc


2) also -he would like you to bring in yourn "top 5" bass sounds on Ipod or CD. (he has a system to play these through) and he would like to discuss:
a) why the sound is so good?
b) what are we hearing?
c) what can we do to get that sound?

Both ideas sound great, can't wait!

Oddly enough, I e-mailed Leo about finding a fretless neck a couple of weeks ago. Originally I was gonna put it on the JO5, but have since changed my mind since I just love the tone of the Single Chi's with the MTD Nickels.I expected it to take quite some time for a fretless neck to show up, but he had his hands on one that same day...
