I LOVE the quilted blue....

UPDATE - DIRECT FROM DAN:

1) he would like you to bring in basses OTHER than laklands as well.REALLY wants to compare some newer Sadowsky's MTDs, Callowhill, etc

2) also -he would like you to bring in yourn "top 5" bass sounds on Ipod or CD. (he has a system to play these through) and he would like to discuss:
a) why the sound is so good?
b) what are we hearing?
c) what can we do to get that sound?

I was hoping those who own those types of basses would bring them in.

Item #2 is very interesting! Could lead to some good discussions.

oh MAAAN sounds like a bass-lover's utopia!
Too bad a kid like me would be totally out of place there... :crying:

That's awesome!! That should be too fun!

Damn, now I really want to go!

How often do you get to be heard in that type of forum?!

That's it, I'm posting a fire sale!

Man... that's awesome. I wish that Tim could finish my callowhill in the span of a week. I guess it doesn't work like that. Michael (tobias) and Roger (sadowsky) are all local to me, but I doubt I could "borrow" a bass. Maybe I could buy one for the weekend.

Not that I'll be able to go, but...

top 5 bass sounds...
Robert Trujilo on Death Magnetic
Tim Commerford on late RATM and Audioslave albums
Brian Marshall on One Day Remains and Blackbird
John Paul Jones on pretty much every Zeppelin album
Dennis Dunaway on Love It To Death
and just to throw in there, the sound from Joe Bonamassa's Ballad of John Henry (don't know who played bass on that one)

a) It's clean, it's heavy, it cuts through the mix, most importantly... you 'feel' it in your chest and gut.

b) They had darn good producers/engineers?

c) Include an Ampeg with every Lakland and a personal engineer???

I love the sound of a 55-94 through an SVT4pro/810 cab... it sounds like butter. So smooth and fat... it's like an 'eargasm' :bassist:

Feel free to pass that along to Dan :D
