which map do I use to see Dan and sons in person? :D
Heh. Actually, Dan isn't the Lakin in that name--it may not be clear in the picture, but that says "A. Lakin". I don't think he's even one of the "sons", I'm pretty sure his dad is! That business has been around a loooong time.

Ah man... you're all hurting my feelings dissing the black hardware and Ampegs :( I have to admit, the Ampeg classic tube head is a monster though... and I would almost take that over the 4pro. But anyway, it sounds like I need to get out more and educate myself on amps and stop being such an Ampeg fanboy... although I think I'll always have a spot in my heart for Ampeg :)

Black hardware, black beauty strings, black bass.... that's brutal... that's rock and metal :bassist:

Just kidding... I just really dig the look :)

In other news, I took my Ibanez SR800 to a shop last night and put it on consignment. I'm thinking I should have tried selling it out right elsewhere. Shop takes 10% if sold on ebay, 20% if sold in the store. The bad news, he said I'd be lucky to get $647 for my Lakie if I decided to sell it :( The good news, he's going to work on lining up a 55-02 b&m for me :)

I was just kidding, I do remember from that one old interview that the business, and the building, belonged to his grandfather Abraham.
BTW, it is interesting where are the family's roots from. The name being apparently jewish, I always wondered if they'd emigrated from eastern europe. Never know if this is considered polite to inquire though:confused:

I went to this other city last night, and spent a few hours before the closed door to deliberately check out my 55-94 with a tube Ampeg portaflex amp/combo (if you know what this thing is like). They also had two modern chinese Ampeg stacks, a SVT450 and - I forgot what was the other one

Errr... don't wanna hurt any feelings here...

P.S. Okay, off to bed with me... yawn... I'd love to see the 1000th but I have lots of work in the morning

Why not just sell it on TB??

So I just can't take my eyes off of this bass. If it was a fiver, I'd probably be divorced, because I would've found a way to get it no matter what.....

Hmmmm.... I may have to have a good sit down with my fiancee. However I think buying a bass 11 days before a wedding may NOT be a good idea. Of course I could always tell the guy where I brought the Ibanez to buy it and hold it for me. Consider the Ibanez a down payment.... :smug:
