Can any of you describe the differences between the single coil Chi's and humbucking Chi's in both humbucking and single coil tapped mode? Clips would be great.
I'd appreciate it, as I'm considering a Skyline Joe Osbourn with some of these seemingly awesome hell to the yeah Chi-Sonics.
Here's what I'm thinking:
Skyline Joe Osbourn (3-tone sunburst, black pickguard)
Skyline Bob Glaub neck (rosewood fretboard, 1.75" nut width)
Chi-Sonics

I'd appreciate it, as I'm considering a Skyline Joe Osbourn with some of these seemingly awesome hell to the yeah Chi-Sonics.

i have not the experience necessary to answer your question, but i'm sure some of the other fanatics would be glad to help you out.
pfft. i should come to the GTG and bring only the sterling so you guys can be close to it....can't have a room, though...that's for me and me alone.
Welcome! First post starts with a bang! Love that the "Hell to the Yeah" is sticking
The ChiSonic Humbuckers are very smooth and thick. When switched into single coil mode, they get that nice single coil top end that is very clear and open but doesn't have quite the bottom of the straight singles. The straight singles are have the single coil sound, but have a bigger booty. Not as big of a back yard as the huumbuckers in humbucker mode, but very large for singles. But...the caveat is the Decade. The single are monstrous because of the neck pickup placement.

Interesting! We have a few things in common. I got my current 55-94 from Bass Specialties in Bensalem, PA. I dealt with them over e-mail and they were great. Then a guy I know picked the bass and got it over the pond.
My first Lakland was also a four-stringer, a 4-94 Shoreline, I'd never touched a Lakland before and had only heard about them. I just stopped by a Japanese guy who had business in Moscow (I was on a business trip at the time). He had been a bassist in Japan, and had quite a few japanese and american basses at his house, and I was just wondering - no intention to buy, no money really. I played, like, 15 basses that night, including a 1978 FJB, 20th Anniversary MMSR, a FPB Elite II, a few interesting japanese basses, etc. But that bass struck me and I talked him into selling it. I flew home and spent a nice part for my insurance for a car crash (handy!) to get the bass. Until this day, I'm regretting selling that bass. I needed a 55-94, but that was the best one I've had so far.
And, my previous bass was an Ibanez SR also, but an SR905. Interesting, I hadn't realized the bass was made with the same pick ups and pre, that is used in the Lakland -01 models, and built in the same facility
