Don't depend on the internet; call the store. Store #440 in Dallas, TX carries the MB stuff currently available. What they have in stock right now I couldn't tell you. You could call Rhys (pronounced Reece) Johnson at Store #440 if you don't have any luck in NY. I think the # is 972 960 0011. Rhys is off on Thurs.

What town in NY do you live in? I used to go to the Adirondacks every Summer as a kid.

Thank again, I just spoke to Reese in the North Dallas GC store. He is gathering some info for me. It was a pleasure to talk to someone that seems to know something.

I think this is just because they import them directly from MB, and have no special warranty arrangements like we do here through GC. It also means you have to send the unit(s) all the way back to Italy for service, tho, unless something's changed on that.

I was going to get an SA450 from somebody in Canada a while back, and that was the deal killer for me. Whenever I get into something from a company that hasn't been around as long as some others, I like to have the security blanket of decent and domestic warranty coverage (tho I've never needed it with my LMII).

Peter would know for sure, but last I checked, that was the case for getting MB stuff from places other than GC.

Erikson music has been distributing Markbass for years in Canada, and they have had a long time to build things up there.
Guitar Center is HUGE, and the US market is 10 times the size of the Canadian market, so we couldn't make the whole line available in the US just like that--we've had to ramp up gradually in order to keep a handle on quality control.

Every country has their own warranty arrangement.

Nobody sends Markbass gear to the Markbass factory for service! Anywhere. If you live in the US and are not covered under warranty, and something goes wrong, you can get service from Hi-Tech Electronics in Boston. PM me for contact info.
Canada has their own warranty repair facilities.

It's normal for warranties to apply only in the country of purchase.

We are very keen to get the whole product line available to the US market. Trust me, we've been working very hard on this and it's getting close! I'll keep you posted with updates.

Best,
Peter

Ok, I'll reserve comment on whom, but I was told by the dealer it was just a factory warranty with Italy. Then again, maybe that was because I was in the US trying to buy from Canada, and that'd screw things up.

That said, I'm (truly) very happy that's not (at least simply) the case.

Bottom line, Peter, once again, thanks for being so quick to set the record straight. Your participation in this thread has been priceless!!! I wish more dealers would do this.

Canada, aye. I'm 100 miles from the border. A glimmer of hope!
I need a LM 250

Not sure how I missed this club. I LOVE my Markbass LMII! Here is my rig:

I played my LMII thru tha cab a couple weeks back. Normally the Epi sound is to "dry" for my tastes, but playing slap/pop/tap thru this combination was fab. :)

2nd day with my new ta501.Beyond amazing!!My GK800 served me well for 20+ yrs.Plus my acoustic 118,peavey mark V1.My ns-2 never sounded better! This head has almost to much to offer if there is such a thing.
"New member", did you want a number, or just saying you're new to MB? The reason I ask is because not everybody is into the club number thing.

This is the big problem with GC reps. They are generally clueless and I find that painfully obvious when they do not know what they actually carry. That being said, the Guitar Center I bought mine from does not "carry" them, but ordered them from a stocking store which was the Chicago store. If you guitar center does not have them on the floor, grab a salesman who wants to work with you and explain that you want something another guitar center has. Mine was drop shipped to my door, and it only took 18 hours from the point of sale to UPS delivery to get mine.

And I got my warranty paperwork in the mail 3 months later.
