I couldn't help but notice that most of you only have 1 peice of markbass in your rigs. Here's mine, there is a peavey head on there but I will shortly be getting the demo mark 450w to match the cabs.

Look what my local GC had for me today! $799. + tax (Unopened/Unplayed) :hyper:
Can't wait to try it out on my gig Sat. night. We all read KJung's GTG report on how this head works great with the Epi UL2-410 so I can hardly wait to hear it myself. I will report back after the gig to let you know how it went! :D

I gigged my NEW F1 on Saturday night and I must say it was awesome! I put it through my Epifani Series 2 UL-410 along with my Sadowsky NYC Standard 5. I tried a little experiment with this head after reading some posts about the VLE and VPF. Here's how it went.......

The club was small but had around 200 people in there and the band was setup in the corner (of course) on a wood floor. I kept the wheels on my cab. I set the tweeter on the Epi cab at around 11:00. I boosted the Lows around 1:00, Flat with the Low Mids, 10:00 with the High Mids, Flat Highs. The VLE was at around 8:00 and the VPF at around 10:00. Master was around 11:00. Yeah, it was loud! The tone had a good bottom low end, very punchy, clear and cut through the place as descibed by one of my musician friends in the club. The F1 is very fast and accurate and maybe not as open as the LMII but still had a good driving tone that worked well with the aggressive Sadowsky J sound. Slapping sounded killer too. I don't do it alot but here and there for some flavor andthe F1 delivered. The notes jumpped right out of the cab! I love this little amp! I love the LMII as well and I brought that along just in case. But, the F1 rocked the house all night. The settings I used would probably not work as well with the LMII. I think the F1 has a little more hint of mids built in. Someone said this head would not work well with rock music but IMO it does. If you left everything flat it had an in your face mid punch that is more aggressive than the LMII. The LMII is a little warmer.

All in all, this is another great unit from Markbass that fit inside the pouch of my Sadowsky case to boot! I have the rack ears on order from GC. They said sometime in April they will be available. I will continue to try different setting to get a better feel of what this head can do. But, I was diggin' the tone I was getting Sat. night from this thing. And, by the compliments I got from other musicians in the house they were too! :bassist:

Cool! I too love the F1 with the 410UL (II), as you know. It helps punch and grit up that very even cab a bit, and I prefer it to the LMII with that particular cab.

Isn't the form factor amazing on that amp... it's SO small, but it feels so solid.

+1 I wrapped it in a towel and put it in the pocket of my Sadowsky case. Amp and Bass in one trip. Everyone came up to me and said WOW look at that thing. It looks like a car stereo. But, I see why you like it. This head and cab combo is something!

I was hoping the F1 would fit in the Sadowsky laptop pouch, but it is just a touch too big to close the zipper in the laptop pouch of the inCase Slimbag, so I assumed it was the same with the Sadowsky bag (which stays in another city). Is that the case? I assume you put it in the main compartment?

You know, with that cab and my J basses, I pretty much run it flat... maybe just a slight cut of the upper mids (11 o'clock), and that 'sweet spot' of having the VPF just slightly, slightly engaged.. like at 8 o'clock. That's about it!!!!

Yeah, the outside pocket of the Sadowsky case. The newer style with the black interior. Not the older one with the grey. It fit like a glove. 8:00 is a sweetspot for the control. A little more around 10:00 dials in a little more lows, highs and gives it a nice tone that tames that sometime SS sterile sound. But, this head is far from sounding sterile!

Not sure what they are asking up north. But, here in the states Guitar Center has them listed for $799.99 with the 2 year warranty! IMO a great price for this amp. Just like the LMII is a killer amp for under $600!

Well look who came crawling back!!! Just wanted to drop a quick note to say I'm back (hopefully won't get any more infractions, so don't cheese me off, you lot!). Also wanted to say Vic has done a great job during my retirement, and please feel free to keep being in charge. Please!

I suggest to get back into the swing of things you get on Fretlessboy's Genz Benz threads and discuss the merits of Markbass vs. Genz Benz with him.

That would be a good warm-up:D

LOL...trying to get me thrown out again already, Ken??? HMMMMMM???? :D

I haven't got to play a Genz Benz head yet. I saw Bass Central had a Shuttle 3.0, but I was too consumed with this 70's B-15N I ended up not buying and didn't even think about trying it.

Just kidding you, and welcome back! Let's just say Fretlessboy is as 'exuberant' about the Genz stuff as you are about the MB stuff.

I'm just plain exuberant over the state of solid state amps in general. Now that we've gotten over the size/price/performance revolution, these companies are going to try to start topping themselves now. It's already started. It's going to start coming fast and furious now. And when it shakes out in a few years, I'll buy another amp ;)
