Finished retrofitting vintage parts to the new 4003 last nite. Still need a plexi truss rod cover, but C64 tailpiece, reissue horseshoe pickup & surround, toaster cover on the neck pickup, and C64 tuners really make for a heavy vintage vibe.

"Rickenbacker International Corp. guarantees this instrument to be free from defective materials and workmanship to the original purchaser for five years, except for the finish, which is guaranteed for one year. This warranty begins upon the date of manufacture as stamped on this card."

This is what I would be concerned about. There have been a few here returned because of finish, yellowing and I did not realize that many of these new basses, have been reported as having build dates in the early-mid 2010's.

Pretty much means no warranty on the finish. I am curious if any of you that received your bass made in the early-mid 2010 year, got an extended warranty from MF?

Saw this on the Ric site. Beautiful.

MF has a generous return policy. If slightly yellowed binding bothers you, return it. Its just that simple.

I know there was a blue bleeding issue a few years ago but the finish they use is so different now I don't think it should translate.

Yep...I bought a 2004 MID (used) in early 2005 and it has slight bleeding. Nothing to get excited about and it doesn't bother me, but I have heard that Ric changed the formula to take care of the problem and, as far as I know, it has.

Cheers!!

Nope. I was not about to drop another $129 or whatever it was. This will be a working bass for me, so I know I'm going to put my own finish damage on it over time. For the price on this sale, I can live without perfection and without the finish warranty.

As it turns out, mine (June 2010) is perfect in the finish.

Not me. For that price, I wasn't worried about it; turns out mine is perfect. Made in March 2010. Even if it had small imperfections, I'd be fine with it. I never thought I'd own a Ric. I'm happy as hell with it.

Cool. Enjoy it Rider. :bassist:

Mine arrived Fiday, got the Pickguardian options Staurday, installed it this morning, took it to rehearsal this afternoon. After I adjust the action a bit lower and make sure the intonation is just so, this will be a goto instrument. Nice bass!

I'm speechless. Killer updates on this one.

Mine arrives tomorrow.
