Here is what i found


Your guitar was manufactured in week number 10 of the year 2011

I think that means March 7-11th 2011 , it arrived at MF March 29th 2011 , so maybe why these had some issues is they may have been rushed. Glue may not have been dried causing nuts under string tension to move , paint may noy have been fully dry causing areas aroudn the bridge to crack, etc.

I had returned mine and they were supposed to send me a replacement but as soon as OnlyJerry posted the above reply I cancelled the replacement and got a refund then ordered one for $1106 and I guess MF is gonna also credit me an additional ebates 6% in a few days. I'm also glad I'm not getting the Bass for awhile. Give me some time to sell some Bass and Amps before the Mrs. sees the CC statement.

Seems like a lot of excuses in this thread for a brand new, not-cheap instrument. I suppose if you really want that look/sound it is worth it but from the outside looking in, it frankly doesn't seem worth it. ymmv.

I agree. For the price i wasnt willing to keep anything that was not up to my standard and the first bass I bought was pretty horrid, 2nd one is beautiful.

Got the 15% off plus another 6% through Ebates. I really don't need this bass but couldn't pass it up at the price. Plus, since it looks like I won't get it for a year anyway, I can just forget about it for a while and hopefully get a nice surprise next July!

Holy ****! This is very tempting. I couldn't get one right now, too much going on. But get the deal and have the bass later, that might work out perfectly for me.

Mine arrived!!! Ordered Aug 4, received a May 2011 & I popped the factory's box staples.

E nut slot high, oddly so for this price point. Got some of the 'bridge bubbling' but no worries, other than odd for this price point. Neck butt unvarnished. Clearcoat on the binding but not too yellow.

E a bit lacking, but that looks like an easy adjustment. Neck was 'not quite flat' when bass tuned.

Zero shipping issues. The outer box had a few kicks in it, but that might have been due to the gap between outer & inner boxes. Perhaps also ordering a strap with the bass got me the added protection of the outer box?

Initially a mild panic when I thought one of the p'ups was dead. But now I know a little bit more about the Rick-o-sound jack

GORGEOUS colour!!! Nicer than I'd envisioned. And the Ric look . . . sweet.

Now to figure out the nuances of it's sound

I've only digested half of the 40 pages here; anyone know what strings? Silver ball ends.

Stock strings. Ric changed them some time ago and they have the balls on the ends. Go to the ric site and they have the gauges used.

Filing high frets is always part of a proper setup (at least for those of us who like low action). Given that RIC allowed my new $1900 instrument out of their shop with high frets, I can't fathom sending it back to them and getting any better.

I like low action, and have yet to file frets to achieve it. Fret leveling should reserved for worn frets or cheap guitars. I've owned 2 Rics, 3 if you count my 330 guitar, and haven't even come close to having to level the frets on any of them.

All Rics ship with a high nut on purpose. You need to set it up to your preferences. You can file a high nut, but can't add to a low one.

I'm sure you are right, but both my fourth and 11th frets are high (verified by a straight edge spanning three frets).

From his comment it seems the E slot is high, not all of them. If this were a "preferences" thing then all the slots should be uniformly high.

I emailed Ric customer service today and they said my finish issue around the bridge would be covered under warranty. They said they strip it and completely refinish, about a 2 week process.

I already have my return label for Music 123.
