No way. They already have a backlog of 1~2 years. IOW, they are making items that are already sold, where-as most companies make a bunch of stuff and then hope to sell most of it.

My journey has ended , number 2 has arrived.


#1 was ordered 8/2/2011. It came with a poorly seated nut , a chip , very uneven yellowed binding,Glue built up at the fretboard end, super high action although playable,Very visible body lines on the back but this doesnt bother me, serial number was 10 and it had a date on the box of 9/19/2010. This one would never have been pretty but it would have been a great player just not worth what i paid IMO.It went back , MF was very kind and sent out the replacement , ovenighted to me, before this one even got back they sent the new one.


#2 has a box date of 3/29/2011, over 6 months newer, a serial number of 10427 , and stamped 11, so sometime this year, how do i look up when it was made?, no yellow binding , its a little creamy compared to the guard, BUT its all even and looks to be made this way not aged in some weird way ........very sexy looking , the nut is seated well, there are no dings , no dents , no weird impressions around the bridge . The finish is flawless , no compound, no weird glue built up anywhere. The action is medium and it tuned up easy . It plays great with medium action , no fret issues. The truss rod cover is flush not bowed. The body lines on the back of #1 were 3 very visible lines, #2 has 1 in the middle and its not very visible. Even under the truss cover (yep a looked there) its clean , some slight polishing compound , but very clean routes , drill holes are straight and not angeled. Its a fine bass indeed.


Only issues with #2 are it looks like the chrome on the bridge ONLY has some bubbling going on, all the chrome everywhere else is GREAT , but the bridge does have this. I wont send the bass back due to something this minor, its very minor and if it did bother me would rick send me a new one if i sent this in? You cant see it unless your up close.

Other then that there is very very slight tail lift, a .73mm pick cant get under there and thats when the bass is fully intune, is this normal? i figured most ricks have a tad lift.





I am VERY happy, if the bridge is under warranty and i can send it in for one with no bubbling , i may but its such a minor issue its not bothering me. I will be playing it then voting , so far its getting a very satisfied vote as MF went above and beyond to get me the happiness I wanted:bassist:



For those of you who gave us gruff for returning , if i would have kept that "junk" i was first sent , i never would have like rickenbacker as much as i can now. Now i have a great example of a greatly made american instrument, before when i got number one i believed korea could make a better rickenbacker.








I love it.

Awesome news, AST! Glad to hear it all worked out in the end! I keep enjoying mine more and more, I recorded some tracks with it the other day and it sounds awesome. I love the tone. I'm pleased that my "dream bass" turned out the way I had always hoped.

I just did the same thing, $1006 with the vip15mf code. I can't wait to see if they cancel my order, or I really do get 2012 Ric next year!

Great news A-Step, definitely makes me confident I'm gonna get a winner as well!! You outta lurk around this thread at least until I get mine on Monday-Tuesday ;)

bthrem, thats an even sweeter deal, I didnt expect anyone to undercut the ~$1150 we snagged ours for. I cant wait til next year when you totally forget you even ordered it, and a spanking new Ric shows up unexpectedly at your door

You'll have to call customer support to see if they'll swap the bridge.
RE: the lift, yeah that's normal. It's the nature of the old tailpiece design and the location of it's attachment points, has been forever.
RIC says that the body is usually not perfectly flat, but the only way to get the tail down all the way is to add two more screws through the end of the tail like the early 4003s had.
The good news is that it 99% likely won't get worse, or at least not enough to affect playability.
My 1976 4000 has about 1mm of lift and has had this amount for at least as long as I've had it (since 1986).

It's good to see that you're happy with yours finally, it's a shame it took so much extra effort.

The medium setup height will not show slight variations in fret height. If you like yours low, you may find a high fret.
Mine had a high 4th fret as someone else here found on theirs, but you can't fault the factory on that. since it was impossible to find unless you drop the action considerably.

Oh I am very devoted to this thread , i will be here tell thee end , still looking forward to seeing others arrive.

I think the best ones were kept tell the end , as I dont think I have heard of anyones that sounded as great as mine is , its really free from all issues that have been listed.

It will probably be sooner than that.
These dealers place orders regularly so that they will continue to have stock, or at least not be out of stock for long, and RIC ships product in the sequence that the orders were received.
They will likely have more stock again fairly soon.

It is strange that MF said to one fellow that they wouldn't ship to Canada.
That's where I got mine last March, took only about 4 days to arrive here in N.S., no hassles at all.
Maybe they changed their policy, or perhaps just for the sale.
Not really fair either way.

Awesome. The bridge is very minor , its very slight bubbling in a few areas and in no way does that harm the playability o look as its so small, its not bugging me, but in a few weeks I may see what they offer.

Yes the tail lift it has I figured was normall , fully intune as i said a .73mm pick wont fit and then i tried a .63mm and that didnt fit , i am guessing its .4 or .50 mm little lift. If it doesnt grow , like you said it more then likely wont , its going to be a great bass.


I like medium action and it plays without a single buzz , if i drop it and there is some buzz, i will take it in for a great leveling, but as you said thats nothing i could hold against rick.

This is crazy! I´m so tempted to pull the trigger on this deal...I have the money, why not! I´ve wanted a Jetglo for as long as I can remember, but I can live with Midnight Blue for the incredible price. BTW, does anyone know how long this sale will run for? I´m actually on vacation in the Dominican Republic at the moment, which is why I haven´t posted on TB for so long! But I found some wifi and logged on to the TB app last night, and imagine my surprise when I see these Ric sale threads!
