I will be writing a overall story on these "adventure" as soon as i get my next one.

My lemon was delivered yesterday , I boxed and returned it the same day.

I just talked to MF its going to be there friday , they said they would overnight me a new rickenbacker and it will be here thursday before the old one get back.

Not costing me a dime, I seriously hope the next one is right and its not 3rd times the charm.

Great news. MF has really been on the ball on these returns. Over nighting replacements? THAT is great customer service.

The original comment only pertained to an item that has been on display in a showroom for quite some time, not stored in a case. It was just a theory anyway.

FWIW, my 2009 4003, which has the older finish, has body binding slightly warmer/yellower than the while pickguard, and is evenly toned around the body. The fretboard binding however, is about as white as the pickguard.

Hmmm... perhaps some enterpring merchant collected all factory rejects that are questionable for retail sale and selling them through MF???

This pains me greatly...

Mine is going back. I wasn't initially worried about the slight neck bow that it had - I figured a good setup is all it needed. Just took it to my local RIC dealer (highly recommended by fellow TB'ers) to get setup and the truss rod on the lower horn was maxed and he couldn't get it quite right. After some discussion, we both agreed it wasn't worth hanging onto a new instrument that could have potential problems.

Needless to say, I am going to hold off on ordering another one. MF's customer was great (always has been) and paid for return shipping. They even gave me $20 in store credit for the inconvenience. Can't complain about that at all. I'm glad a lot of people received good RIC's and the ones that haven't got great service too.

I remember you posting that , very sweet. Another guy has a cracked case he is going to juts "live" with. Screw that , your a paying customer , you deserve what you paid for , a brandnew rickenbacker and case.

Anyone not satisfied , dont just "live" with it, you'll regret it later.

This is the most expensive bass I have ever purchased 2x. I would never "settle" and neither should he.

When I woke up today after my night shift I checked my shipment status to see that my bass had been delivered to the UPS store in Buffalo so off I went. The box looked unscathed so I just paid my $15.00 drop ship fee and headed home. Paid the HST on the Canadian side.:spit:

Mine was built 03/10. After all the horror stories / nitpicking I was somewhat anxious but I am pleased to say It is in excellent shape with no obvious defects. I really had to look hard. The colour would have been my last choice but in the light it is gorgeous. (FWIW it matches my Indigo blue Chevy S10). The binding is slightly yellowed in places like almost every other guitar/bass I own. Meh, I'll call it "relic"d and sleep well.

The neck is very straight with just a hint of bow, just how I like it. No tweaks there. I have big meathook hands so I like the thickness. I'ts about 2mm wider at the nut than my elDegas 4001 copy. I lowered the bridge a bit but I think the nut needs some filing to lower the action there as well. It plays OK regardless of that.

It sounds great! Higher output than most of my passive basses. The "vintage" tone selector adds a little variety but I think I prefer the normal setting.

The only issue I could find was that the "elephant ear" on the E string tuner is not crimped on to the shaft as tightly as the others. I can't see it or hear it but I can feel a slight movement when tuning. Blame Schaller or Ric, your call.

Me, Im loving my first new, blue Ric bass. :cool:
