Well, you guys do a hell'uvah job providing us with the methods to the madness. So that's a good start
Tried blending thru Badger mixing in EQ, comp etc but IMO it sounds best as a stand-alone pedal. So far I'm mostly copying your guys' settings. Love the tones so far. Will get back when I find my own settings.
Just found my sweet spot
Hah, that's almost identical to where I have mine set (I have the blend at about 2 o'clock, but the other knobs are the same). I just got mine yesterday, and I'm loving it so far!
I had mine at the back of my chain (Boss FV 500H volume -> EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff -> EHX Enigma Q Balls -> Vintage Microtubes), and it sounded great as long as the volume was up 100%. Cutting the volume would kill the hair. I wound up moving it to the front of the chain (before the volume), and now I can sweep the volume to my heart's content without killing the sweet tone of the Vintage Microtubes.
Da bomb plectrum settings in my ( not humble-I'm right!) settings. Maybe I'm wrong but...new setup and strings-my new settings rock (in my brain)
My latest-crunch&growl! Depends on Bass/Amp/Pedal order of course but this is working for now-exploring tones.
Gawd I can't get enough of the VMT. Every time I play it I can find more/different tones. It's endless!! So much character.
I'm curious as to how you guys get any od with the drive below 2 o'clock? I play passive Ps, Js and Rics and anything below 2 o'clock is pretty much perfectly clean.
I keep the drive knob off, actually! With the blend pretty far to the left, there's still some edge if I dig in pretty hard.
This is the setting I use and leave on all the time for my gigs. It's a slightly modified version of a setting I got off of a picture of Tim Lefebvre's VMT Deluxe (obviously only of the applicable knobs).

For always on with a smaller rig that needs some Darkglass / SVT type magic:
Blend: all the way
Era: 9pm
Drive: 9pm
Level: to taste
For a great drive pedal that I turn on with the big rig when I need MORE
Blend: 2pm
Era: 3pm
Drive: 3pm
Level: to taste

I'm thinking about getting one of these (on the fence actually between this or a Tech 21 VT bass). Anybody use this as their primary tone, with the pedal always on? I'm looking to emulate a warm, fat-sounding clean 60s/early 70s tube tone.
Yeah, I'm using it as an "always on". The great thing about this pedal, which you should totally take into account, is that it's dynamic-sensitive. It gets more drive as you play harder, much like a tube amp would really work. That makes the 5.5 lb. solid state tone of an Aguilar TH500 way more of an experience.
Good to know. I use a MarkBass Tube 800, which I think is in the same genre as the Aggie TH500. When it's set to a full tube emulation sound, it has a slight tubey-ness about it but not yet enough to my liking. Hence I'm GAS'ing for the Vintage Microtube pedal. One of these years I'll have a real tube amp, but until I have the $$ and back strength to lug around a 50+ lb. head, I'll settle for this pedal.
