Most new tubes do have a bit of a smell as they first heat up. Probably lasts the first 5-7 times or so.

Hello to all. After coming to this forum and finding this thread, I felt compelled to join up and asked to join your club. I have an Orange Terror Bass 1000 that I've paired with a Carvin 18" cab. I got a really sweet deal on it from American Musical Supply for $360 as a scratch and dent, but get this, the only thing wrong with it was the box was opened, so I essentially got a brand new amp around a third of the price. I picked up the Carvin from eBay for $250 from Carvin that was a scratch and dent. It was a little banged up with a couple of dents and some smudges and it smelled like sour milk :***: but I cleaned it up as best as I could and it sounds really good. I'd like to replace the speaker with a Celestion 8 ohm speaker (this one is 4 ohms) so I could eventually stack another 18" with it or maybe some 12"s. I like the fact the white covering matches the head, but I took off the Carvin logo for aesthetic reasons. I know 18"s aren't popular (it wasn't exactly easy to get one new these days, but I like that old school sound. It's also my sort of tribute to Bill Wyman back in the Vox days. In fact, I wanted to get one of those Vox Foundation reissue cabs North Coast Music builds, but it was out of the budget. So, I'd love a number and join up if you don't mind.
Cheers,

It does. I tried the 63AV through it as well as running the head through the Ampeg 410. My SVT had a power tube go out last night so I'll put them side by side when I get the tube replaced and really see what I like best. But right now the Ric and the AD200b with the 2-OBC 115 are doing it just like I like it!I'd
I imagine that Ric must sound sweet through that rig.I wish I still had mine.
Any of you fine gents putting an eb3/Sg bass through the terror bass? Does it get too distorted?
Also not a whole lot of great demos in the YouTube, anyone got some clips?
Was it super fuzzy or still pretty controllable?I haven't tried this with my Terror Bass 500 or 1000, but last year, I gigged with an SG through my AD200 into two OBC115's, and it was beyond glorious. Since the Terror Bass have the same front end, my guess is that the SG would also work well through the TB heads. Can't speak to an EB-3, though.

Got it man thanks for the adviceNot super fuzzy, though the AD200 does give up a certain amount of "hair" and "growl" when you crank it up to loud gig volume. The TB's can actually stay cleaner, louder, though.
Got it man thanks for the adviceI'm saving up for a couple new amps and the new ob1s caught my eye for my clean/dirty setup and I started revisiting the terrors too. Wish the cabs weren't so dang expensive, but do you feel like their tone is worth the cash?
I was looking at the 115s, couldn't find a super detailed spec sheet but I like the eminence speakers they're using in em. I usually rock a 210 and 115 and would love to have the same deal in the orange but id have to try emOrange makes great cabs. The isobaric models are rather unique, and their particular set of trade-offs will appeal to some folks, but not to others. My personal favorite is the OBC115. That cab is pretty amazing, though admittedly, there are other 1x15's with similar designs which will perform similarly. The OBC410 is no slouch, either.
