My AD200B needs new valves, so am using my KustomGrooveBass1200 through Orange 4x10 and 1x15. My bass is an American Fender Jazz Elite 4 string. Love the sound wondering whether to buy a 5 string.

My next bass will be a fiver I wish I would have gotten this L-2000 in a five string.

I have the 4x10 and for home use that's more than enough I thought about adding the 1x15 but that would be overkill.

Maybe but it does negate the need to bend down to reach your amp, surely this is reason enough to add the1x15.

When I see stuff like that, my first question is "What had to happen for this to occur?". I'm guessing that the amp was dropped.

Be sure to look for other damage, especially if you pull the chassis out of the case.

I would pull the chassis out of its case to make sure its not got more damage.

Question to you guys that own the OBC410 and OBC115 such as myself...

I mostly play out with the 410, but at bigger sets I bring out the 15 cab as well. I know the 15/410 combination gets poo-pooed a lot on here, and probably with good reason, however I've used those cabs together and have been happy with the tone. That aside, my question for you guys is which cab do you prefer on the top and also which one do you prefer to mic? I've seen the 15 thrown on the bottom (I think mainly because people have an idea that the 15 will supply a "bassier" tone as opposed to the 410 - whether true or not), but I've also read around that others prefer the 15 as the top cab so that you may better hear if the 15 is straining in any way.

I've been playing with the 15 as the top cab and mic'ing the 410 but was curious what you guys choose?
Any opinions on this?

Hey. I've tried mine both ways a few times. Gotta say I reckon it sounds best with the 4x10 up top.

I had the 410 but it was just a bit too boomy for me. The 410 is also really heavy.

I was going to get the 15, but then I found a pair of Trace 1153s for $350. They are the real deal. I like them better than the Orange 15. They are very similar, but the Trace has these port covers that let you tune them differently. It also feels like the Trace cabs are more sensitive. The only problem is that they are green, not Orange.

I wonder if my cab being elevated on a stand makes it less boomy? I also have it lined with acoustic material on the inside it works really well. I absolutely agree with the weight and I admire anyone who gigs with it and the 115 that's crazy. Those Trace cabs are really nice and I actually think they contribute more to the "Trace Sound" than the heads do.

This is one thing I don't like about the AD200. The EQ is not at all precise. It is musical and never really bad, but dialing a frequency in or out is guess work or impossible. A head with more EQ lets you dial out the boom, or a 3 band boost/cut bass lets you take the boom away. Or a cab that is really tight in the lows.

The EQ was an adjustment for me and so different than my Ampeg rigs but I think it's what I like about the AD200B it's so much more organic to me the Ampeg sound can be overwhelming at times to the point where it seems no matter what bass you play it sounds familiar now that sound is glorious but it can be dominant. I find that if I use my Meatsmoke Pre I can comp that Ampeg sound.

I had the combo as well (410 and 115) but it WAS overkill, so I sold the 410 and use the 115 alone. It is loud enough. I'm now thinking about buying another 115. I fancy the sound of Orange better than other makes, but that is most likely because I'm a fanboy.

I'm definitely a fanboy after hearing the way my Hofner sounds through the Orange this baby is a keeper.

Hey. The Orange OBC 1x15 is very well designed and constructed. That's why in my opinion its one of the best 1x15 cabs available. Respect.

I just changed my preamp tubes and forgot to put those heat shields back on do I need to? it's not going to be gigged at all.

I put the shields back on I forgot I could just go through the back. I changed the stock tubes to JJ 12ax7's and a 50's RCA 12au7

I really like the change I went through my tube drawer and this combo sounded the best.
