Official Orange Club II

hiho, just letting you know I,m still alive and glowing in lovely Orangeness still.
Well done reissuing the Terror but I wish it did 500w into 8 ohm like the original so I,m sticking to my original.
I,ve had 6years of pleasure from my Orange rig-Terror 500,OBC 115,SP212 nothing comes close apart from more Orange.

Bought one of the last 4 Stroke 300 1 month ago...
I love the "organic" sound, punchy, with a good eq section, very flexible :)

I've been looking for that kind of amp since the 90's when I played Peavey...

Interesting that you mention it. I also hear a bit of that Peaveyness on the OB1 but I never gave it a second thought until you said it. I guess the 4-Stroke is more like it. But yeah, they are like Peaveys on bath salts.

Hmm... this weekend I'll side by side it with my Laney Pro-Bass stack :)

Interesting, you can pretty much 'plug and play' anything in the Crush and it sounds great.

I can get more or less the same sound from the Laney (bristling with controls) but it takes quite a bit of fiddling with different settings for each bass.

Conclusion - the Orange is very much imposing its own character on the sound (which is OK because I like it) while the ancient Laney is more transparent - the downside being that it's too noisy for studio use.

Ordered up a new Terror Bass after regrettably selling mine. Question- I've had bad experiences with a certain brand of class d amps cutting out when driven hard at high volume. Any reports of this anomaly with the new terror bass? On my last one, I ran the eq flat and the gain/master both around noon (typically my settings) without any issues whatsoever. Also, how does the new one compare in volume?

I never had a problem with my older Terror Bass 500, and it held up very well during our bench testing procedures (at Bass Gear Magazine). Orange sent me the newer model for review, and I have a few gigs under my belt with the new head, and it seems to be just as loud and just as reliable. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Tom. You da man. I still have that issue bookmarked. Such an impressive article. Plans to bench the current model? The 4 ohm limiter scares me as do class d amps in general. My first TB was good to me. I hope this one is.

Never had that issue when I had one, the only thing was that the Line leve Fx Loop was a bit capricious and didn't play well with every pedal (not that I couldn't go on front, like I usually do) and the DI was a bit hot.
I hear they corrected both issues on the newer.
