It does seem pretty gutsy sort of like my Genz Benz UBER 115t minus the tweeter. It seems to be pretty dark sounding, but I really like the mids this cab puts out and the highs are still pretty prominent. Switching from the OBC115 to the GK NEO 112's was a drastic change in tone.

Makes me realize that the head is not dark at all, but rather the cabinet. The mids and highs were screaming at me through the GK's with the bass at 9:00, mids at 3:00 and treble at 12:00. But through the OBC the mids were very pleasant sounding and the highs were just right.

I think I am going to have to get some casters for this thing. While it is not ridiculously heavy, maneuvering through doorways is definitely a PITA. I already ordered a cover for it and it should be here before my show on Saturday.

I compared the Terror Bass yesterday to my Streamliner because they both appear to have a similar EQ where 12:00 is not flat. I was able to get them in the same ball park with the Streamliner through the GK's and the Terror through the OBC115 so that was pretty cool.

Anyway more playtime today and a gig Saturday should give me way more information, but for now I am quite happy.

Yep, I can understand the desire for casters. I once owned 2 of these cabs, but ultimately sold one once I realized that one could do all the work I require for it.

I think when you deal with Orange bass heads (OB1, 4 Stroke, Terror Bass) there is usually some sort of amp-defining effects, such as overdrive or compression, that ultimately might limit your headroom as the amp is intrinsically linked to the effect, so that you'll never get 100% volume with an unaffected tone. For me, that works out just fine with my OB1 and my stoner metal band, yet I couldn't use my 4 Stroke in a manner that I was happy with during my post-rock band's practices. But then, I love the OB1 overdrive, and I never really cared for the 4 Stroke "compression effect", so YMMV.

Any way, happy day for you! I'm sure you'll enjoy the new toys :)

Yep, and if you're busy watching out for your knuckles you could bang the cab on something else like a doorway or wall or something. I'm trying to be super careful with it right now which is proving to be quite hard. :cautious:

I'm liking the little bit of drive I am getting from it. Sounds pretty clean with some mid complexion to it that is giving me some nice dimensionality. I could see it cutting through quite nicely without sounding over the top unless I want it too. :)

With the tweeter off on the UBER 115 both cabs sound nearly identical. Very nice indeed, but I do like the tweeter in the UBER.

And I'm really enjoying the Terror right now. The mids on it at about 2 to 3:00 are pretty sweet.

I'm probably not saying anything you all don't already know and probably sounding like a giddy teenager as well, so I will go ahead and stop now. :cool:

It sounds excellent with the UBER 115 and the TC Electronic RS210'S. I'm not a fan of it yet with the GK NEO 112's.

It sounds a bit harsh to my ears with those cabs which is weird because all my other amps sound great with them.

Thank you. I won't gig it until tomorrow, but just judging it from comparisons with other amps at home I believe it should work out quite well. Funny how this was not the amp I originally thought about, but after conversations with you and @mapleglow, as well as others, and then watching some videos on youtube I began to think that maybe this would be the better amp for me over the OB1 and 4 Stroke after all. I still think the lunchbox design is weird, but it's growing on me.

Hey @Gegatso, how about some pictures and thoughts on your combo. I'm pretty sure others as well as myself would like to see them.

I don't take pics of gear except sometimes have pro photos of basses. The amp is incredible! Everything you read and hear in the reviews, but much better! I hate audio reviews on amps, because you never really get the true sound of them live. It is incredibly easy to dial in many, many tones, sounds great clean or (for me) with just a *little* grit in there. It is also LOUD! I know why the cabinets are so thick now - if the were not, they'd probably shake apart. this is what a Fender Rumble 500 wishes it could be, but isn't close.

A bit of thought on the OBC115, are their many cabs with the side porting? I have an older GK 210 which has similar porting but facing the bottom, not the side like the OBC115. But both cabs feel "airy" as they push a lot of air over other cabs that are sealed or using small ports. I like the feel of the 115, but also tend to think of this cab semi-unique to others on the market.

A funny note, I was really close to buying the newer 112, but the porting of the 115 made my decision as it was like the 210 I currently have. I do miss how light the 112 cab is over the 115.

So I used the Terror Bass and the OBC 115 on Saturday night and came to the conclusion that I probably need another 115.

I had to use some extreme EQ to be able to hear myself on stage as I think the mids were beaming below my knees plus the hollow fold up stage is a bit boomy. Bass was at 7:00, Mids at 5:00 and Treble at 1:00 with Gain at 12:00. Hearing those setting here at home right now was a bit much, but it worked on stage that night.

My band, some musicians out in the audience and my sound guy loved the head. I have a good relationship with the sound guy and his personal preference are my TC RH heads, Genz Benz Streamliner and the Genzler Magellan 800 so it was pretty cool for him to tell me that he really liked the Terror Bass and it was a keeper.

I think this week I am definitely going to use the Genz Benz UBER 115 underneath the OBC, even though it will look a little odd to me, so I can get a better feeling as to how it is going sound as a full stack. I'm also going to run the Master volume at 3:00 and use the Gain as a Master to give me a little more solidity on the notes. The Drive I was getting was pretty cool, but I could use a little more punch. Over all though it was a good experience.

Edit: I should also add that the 115 was definitely more than enough volume wise, but I could still use a second just to be able to hear myself better.

Thank you. I always say anything that brings more attention to the stage is a good thing. Now if I could only get the guitarist to stop buying pedals and spring for light bar also that would help. I swear he goes through pedals like crazy.

Although I should add that he does have an acrylic guitar that has built in lights in it. It looks really cool while he is playing, but he can only use it a little here and there cause that thing is ridiculously heavy. I may buy another light bar for his side of the stage. I think it does make a difference.

hiho,I use the same rig-terror 500 the original,OBC115 and it,s loud.Flat as near as dammit is bass-9 0clock,middle-12 oclock,treble-12 oclock.my tubes are 6 1/2 years old 100 gigs a year no problem.OBC115 took a while to bed in very tight to start with but get the gigs in and it frees off.

I used to run the TB500 with one or two 115s or one 410. They are really loud individually, but you are right that your ankles have no ears, I always prefer to have both, even if just connect only one.

Ah original gave full power at 8 or 4 ohm that,s maybe why you need 2 cabs as original is plenty loud with one and land levelling with 2 cabs.OBC 115 is my favourite cab.I use a SP212 as well,handy when space is tight or awkward load ins.

Yes, I definitely recommend gigging out with two OBC115's. :thumbsup:

I didn't say it wasn't loud, it was plenty loud with more to offer. I said the mids were beaming below my knees making it a little hard to hear my notes articulately without cranking the mids and totally lowering the bass. Then it worked very well.

I actually stacked the OBC on top of the Genz Benz UBER 115 yesterday and it sounded awesome. So yeah, as funny as it may look I am definitely stacking them together this coming Friday. Those 2 cabs sound nearly identical with the tweeter turned off on the UBER.
