Official Orange Club II

Look what the cat dragged in. Hooked up and gave it a run through for a bit with my Gibson EB. I like the tone. It’s round and punchy, reminds me of my old Bassman with about 1/8 the weight. I like the gain up to the edge of breakup but not quite. The overdrive gets a bit too fizzy for my taste. The typical Fender Tone Stack settings get you where you need to be. I have a new band starting soon, so I’ll put it through the paces in a band setting. Last year I bought and tried out the OB1-300. The Terror is. Dry different. It’s more modern and the overdrive is more usable. But the TB is much more in line with my sound.

First practice with my new band will be Sunday. Will be my Gibson EB through my Orange with occasionally kicking on my new Darkglass B3K for grunt. My final opinion will wait for that.

One thing I noticed is that I do occasionally get some audible pops. The first time I messed with the pad and clean switches there was some popping. Then it was fine. Hoping it’s just some new amp jitters that’ll subside.

Excellent taste in gear! I've recently acquired a Gibson EB, and have nearly the same setup as you now. Perfect for our shared taste in music!

What year and finish? I really like them. I run mine with the bridge in humbucker position and I split the neck pickup.

I'm also in the process of putting together a custom P-Bass. I have a Warmoth '54 body on order, I bought an all maple 2016 Fender Am Std Neck, and EMG GZR pickups. Looking forward to that beast.

2013 in Antique White! The only thing I would change about it is the finish, as it's just not my thing. This is the third and hopefully last time I own one, as various circumstances led to me selling the last two.

And I just recently sold a MIM Pbass with GZR pickups a few months ago. The only reason I sold it was to fund the EB purchase, but it was an otherwise excellent bass with my setup. They were actually tonally similar to my ears, as the EB basses tend to sound the least Gibson-y to my ears. Not that Gibson sound is a bad thing, just that I find the recent EB basses are a departure from the norm.

I had a antique white '13 for a while. I bought it on here, and sold it on here. I saw a killer deal in like 2015 for a '13 in Fireburst brand new through Sweetwater and preferred that finish. It's a killer, and it gets a lot of attention at shows. Especially from other bassists who are always like I've never seen that, it's so cool!

Congratulations on the new amp. I've also noticed a pop when I would change from clean to dirty, but I just leave it on clean anyway so it doesn't bother me. Besides it can still get a good amount of dirt once you increase the gain to about 11:00 on up in clean mode. Below that and it punches and cuts beautifully.

Arghh :rage:
I've been waiting for my rewards points ($120) and availability at Musicians Friend for another OBC 115. Yesterday I saw that their next shipment would be July 6 and my rewards points would be available July 4th. Perfect. Just now I see the next shipment date is now July 29th. :bawl:

Ok, now to plan B. Either place a preorder right now and wait till possibly the beginning of August to get my cab or get one right now from Sweetwater, have it by next week and use the rewards points on something else? I get to use the full rig next week and my wife gets a little bag of candy.

I'm a pretty patient guy, but that is still over a month away if I'm lucky. I'm loving this rig a lot and I do have the money right now to buy it. Hmm, decisions, decisions. :help:

Looks like the delivery date has been changed to Friday now. Got a few things to do on Friday and a show later that night. Hopefully it gets delivered early or I will need to make some arrangements.

Are these out of stock or something? I'm awaiting the arrival of one at a local store to pair with one I bought online.

I haven't had the chance to krank up the one i have yet.

When I bought mine early spring they kept going in and out of stock. Assume orange just makes these in small batches. They are made in the USA, not sure if Orange has a factory here or sub contracted out?

Mine has already shipped, but FedEx has changed the delivery date from Wednesday to Friday. And wouldn't you know it, Musicians Friend had a next shipment date listed for 07/29/2019 yesterday and just now I see them listed as in stock . Un-freaking-believable. :rollno:

Oh well, what's done is done. I should be getting my cab by Friday the 5th and I still have a week to figure out what to do with my rewards points.

Stupid Musicians Friend. :spit:
