Grats on the amp, but I gotta know the cats name. Love the Sphinx’s.
Oh yeah last night was a lot of fun. Third different sound guy gave me compliments on the rig including my band and people out in the crowd.
Just bought a new Terror Bass head from MF during the holiday sale! This will actually be my fourth attempt to get along with this amp.
The first two times were the v1 1000w and v1 500w, but the third attempt was actually a new v2 that I eventually returned because it wasn't a good fit for the band I was in at the time. Now I'm in a no-BS stoner/doom band, so I think it and my Thunderbirds will do just fine

Yeah, I think there were a number of factors that went into selling/returning the amp each time, and this time I think the stars are aligned to make it work out. But yeah, this is the only amp I've ever re-bought besides an Orange Rockerverb. What can I say? I'm a bit of a fan.
Just got the phone call. My second 1x12" cab just arrived. I'll fire up the pair at practice this weekend. Psyched.
Awesome! Wish I hadn't sold mine. Granted, they were replaced by OBC115s, but I do miss the light weight.
Nice, I am still a bit curious as to how they sound? My GK NEO 112's are pretty impressive for their size.
I ended up putting some casters on 1 of my OBC115 cabs and life has gotten much easier. I stack 1 on top of the other and just roll them around like an 810. Very nice.
I should have done that a long time ago on my UBERs. They have some now too.
I got my terror bass 500 head today and man do I love the simplicity and the awesome sound of this. Pics to come.
Now that I have this awesome amp, I have been reading about Tube swaps. I was hoping to get some clarification on this. It seems the 5751 tubes will really enhance the EQ section of the amp. Can anyone confirm this? Also, are there any general instructions on how to do this? And can someone point to specific tubes that are quality?
I have seen someone say a NOS 1960's tube is really nice, but when I look them up on Tube Depot or Reverb, I see hugely varying prices. On Tube Depot there are extra options for Balanced Triodes, High Gain, and Low Noise & Microphonics. Are these necessary/worth it?

There's only 2 tubes to change in the bass terror. The single preamp tube, or the single effects loop tube. I changed the stock Ruby preamp tube to an EHX 12AX7, and it gave the amp a little more presence, and the breakup starts a little sooner. Which is what I wanted. Not a dramatic change, but a good subtle one.
That is good to know. So if i don't use the effects loop, i don't really need 2 paired tubes, then?
Nope, I wouldn't even bother with it. Just a single preamp tube is all you need. I did a video comparison. The change is very subtle
Interesting. I liked the Tung Sol followed by the Electro-Harmonix. The Ruby still sounds good to me too.
EHX and Tung sol were my favorites too. EHX had just a touch more high end.
In the first round I liked the EHX for its combination of clarity and a little thickness. The Tung wins on clarity I think
In the second round I really liked the JJ's. Seemed to add some nice richness to the tone. In the first round they sounded much quieter. Maybe you were digging in a bit more at the end?
That is a possibility. I should have used a looper for this review in all honesty...
