I think with the return of the Terror Bass, there is not much space in the lineup for another bass amp. I heard rumours of a pre-amp a while ago, but they seem to be dead now.
I had one of the early Terrors and I have an OB1. I must say, even when I loved the Terror and it's portability and I sometimes see myself contemplating the idea of trading my OB1 for one of the new ones, the OB1 is a very useful piece of gear and not needing tubes or a load are big advantages. So getting a new all analog solid state amplifier from Orange would be great for all those people not sold on the TB.

Good evening everybody,

I’m in the Orange Club now, too. Took a couple of years (more, like, decades), but I finally bit the bullet for Christmas. I used to gig with Trace Elliot and Ampeg, but the Orange sound has always been my favourite. As my back isn't what it used to be, I rather opted for the Terror Bass + 2x112 than AD200 + 410. And boy am I happy.

Will take it to band rehearsal soon, but so far, I'm happy to make our house shake – those 112 are incredibly loud for their size and seem to deliver more at the bottom end than either the 15" B-100R (on the left) or the other cabinets I’ve used over the years. I was never a Fridge type, though, more of a 2x12 or 4x10 guy.

My Terror Bass wasn't dented, but the packaging was. Also, the input valve got dislocated in transport apparently, even with the retainer on. The affected retainer was more wobbly than the one on the second tube and the spring wasn't centered. At first, the amp started ringing and rattling at higher levels; reseating the valve fixed this for me. Otherwise, nothing to complain whatsoever.

I like the OBC112 lots. They seem a tad darker than what I'm used to with my MIM Precision, but, funny enough, my defretted passive Ibanez sounds brighter and punchier than ever before? Weird. Will have to investigate.

I dial up Gain to about 1am for some hair on my tone (I mostly play in our three piece 80-90s Alternative/Metal cover band) and use the scrambler of an Ampeg SCR-DI for overdrive. Will experiment whether the SCR-DI’s preamp could be used as a boost for pushing Gain instead, and employing the scrambler as a special effect rather than for thickening tone during guitar solos as I usually do.

Be it as it may, the Orange mini stack is a keeper for me. Finally, I have the tone I've always wanted – but still promises enough flexibility for the covers stuff as well as my own more experimental side projects. Also, my back is happy again, so this makes me happy.

Sounds good! I'd be interested to hear more once you've played it out a bit - I know lots of others are happy with that setup

Will surely do! That is, once I have checked this issue out: Orange Terror Bass: Fan replacement experiences? A friend of mine tells me his Terror Bass makes the same kind of noise after a while of playing, but as so many in that thread claim the newer revision’s fan shouldn't be discernible, I’ll probably have my shop check it out in the next few days. The rig performs very well for me, but having fan noise where there isn't supposed to be any makes me wonder how well it will perform during actual gigs rather than noodling around at home.

I had a Terror Bass and while I loved it (sound was excellent, it is so practical), I sold it a while ago. I have an AD and an OB1. The AD is the amp to end all amps (at least for my taste) and the OB1 is insanely practical when I don't want to take my AD on the road. I was thinking about getting a Terror Bass again because it's so transportable, but I had to sell my OB1 and the thing I love about the OB1 is that it's tubeless and all analog so it is insanely reliable. An amp that fits in my gig bag like te Little Bass Thing does, actually got me excited, but it lacking a gain knob makes me hesitant, I definitely want to try it though.
The Bass Butler is actually almost the thing I always wanted from orange, that's seriously on my wish list. I was going to sell my Battalion to get a Sansamp anyway, the only one thing they messed up: no parallel output :/
So I have to rethink my signal chain or go with the Tech 21.

Very nice. And bad timing, only a few months ago I got a new compressor (Diamond Bass Comp) as well as a Preamp/DI/Fuzz (Ampeg SCR-DI). The Bass Butler could replace both those pedals for me. I think I’ll put it on my GAS list. Thanks for sharing.

Mine is a bit noisey, and I haven't really got the chance of using it much, actually.
If I were to design a DI, I would want an AD200 voiced preamp, with Volume, Bass, Mids, Treble and Gain, Amp out, Parallel Out, DI out, that's it. If you want more bells and whistles perhaps switchable cab sim and compressor.
Now that I write it, the Butler is almost what I want (I miss the miss on the clean channel and the parallel out)

Now that I am already in Fantasy Land, my perfect AD200B would have a pics only front, a DI out and an FX loop. And it would be Purple Basket Tolex. :laugh:
