Well my Terror 500 will be here Thursday, looking forward to checking it out. Still in the air on the OBC112 though. I have the portaflex pf115 and pf210, still a little heavy but not as heavy as other speakers. Still no reply from Orange on some decent specs on the OBC112. Also been checking out the Bareface speakers, anyone know how the Orange would compare to the Bareface?
I can't talk specs but I can say that I wasn't a fan of the Barefaced SuperTwin I briefly owned whereas I have kept the OBC112 so far. I find that the Orange handled higher gain and distortion better however it does bottom out a little on the 5th string when used as the sole cab. Yet to see if pairing another OBC112 fixes that.
Adding the second cab is where the magic happened, for me.
When I demo’d the Orange head and one OBC112 against my Fender Super Bassman and one Neo 115, the little Orange spanked the Fender in terms of clean low end without farting out, and held its own against the Genzler MG800 and BA12-3 cab I was also demo’ing.
So I had my dealer order me a pair of OBC112’s and a Terror Bass 500, since I knew that a single 12 just wouldn’t cut it for live use (for me anyway). I haven’t got that setup to fart out on the low B yet, and it’s been used on some pretty big stages. I always have full PA support, but my band likes to feel and hear the bass on stage, and it’s delivered, big time.
Ryan, Orange should put you on the payroll bro. Every time I start questioning if these speakers will do the job, you direct me right back on course. Last night while packing my Ampeg BA-210v2 into rehearsal last night I was thinking how nice it would be to have a OBC12 in one hand and the TB500 in the other and at my next show packing the Ampeg Portaflex speakers I'll be thinking the same thing. The portaflex speakers are not real heavy but between the 15 and 210 I'm covering a range from 32hz to 117khz, if I thought the OBC112 could at least get down to 37hz that would quench the deal. Orange doesn't seem to want to reply to my email.
It’s just a topic I have firsthand experience with, from gigging this setup for quite awhile now. @mapleglo runs the same rig I do, so I’m sure she can echo what I have said as to how these little cabs sound.
It definitely helped that I was able to demo the cab first, so I didn’t need to bother with specs. I was able to hear how well it handled my low B string, so I let my ears be the judge and went from there. Unfortunately that’s not always possible, if no dealers are nearby.

I can’t chime in on B strings, but I often play with Drop-D tuning and from time to time C-G-D-A. And I am still amazed about the low end a stack of two OBC112 delivers for me. It’s really quite something. Frankly, our PA (18" woofers) doesn't sound this deeply-tight. Deeper, yes, but it doesn't deliver bass notes as clearly defined as with the mini stack. The Oranges just sound and feel “bassier”.
I play using a Broughton HPF @ ~60 Hz and boost lows on the Terror Bass. I doubt the mini stack delivers loads of usable volume at 30 Hz or so, but then, neither do most 410 or 215.
Edit: In case this helps, find attached the spec sheet for the LaVoce drivers Orange uses in the OBC112. Naturally the cabinet has quite an influence on frequency response, especially down below, but this might give you some idea what to expect, should you be numerically inclined.

I think anytime you add a second cab, magic happens. I really don't like playing single cabs unless it is a 410 or 215. I don't really like my GK NEO 112 by itself, but adding the second cab makes it a very enjoyable rig.
When I first got my Terror Bass and OBC 115 I was happy and found it to be more than enough with my band, but I knew I still wanted the second cab for the magic. It took a couple of months because everyone was out, but once I got the second OBC 115
Yes, two of the cabs handle a low B without issue at pretty high volumes. And they easily fill a moderately sized venue without FOH support. I am very happy with the whole rig.
I was thinking about this today while driving, think I'll do that. I'm sold anyways, the bands I play with use front of house systems. Sweetwater is out of them at the moment and they can't tell me when they will get more. I checked the "call me when they arrive" box, maybe I'll just call and pay for them. All the stuff I'll need to sell when I get these.

It’s comparable to e.g. the Faital Pro or Eminence DeltaLite in that respect. Seems the LaVoce shows usual behavior for a 12" neo driver, down to comparable sensitivity or volume displacement. Apparently, you need to go into pretty high-end stuff à la Barefaced’s drivers if you want substantially “more.”
In the end, the (ported) box you stick it into will define how low usable frequencies will turn out, anyways.
Well, Sweetwater just got some OBC12's in so I ordered 2. I get my Terror 500 today. Was starting to lean toward the purple Aguilar speakers but they are so dam expensive. Purple and orange would be so colorful. Can't wait to check this amp out tonight, probably stomp through my Ampeg speakers, might not want the OBC's after I hear that. Maybe keep those for big shows, NOT!! This is going to make my life so much easer between practice and gigs. All the stuff this replaces it's crazy, I'll be like my own music store on CL.
How does the treble on the obc 112 compare too the other mentioned cabs? im curious about the obc 112 myself but the lack of tweeter might be an issue or might not, some cabs I find bright enough without.

I might do Reverb but would have to be local pick up.
I’m a big tweeter guy normally, so that was one of my main concerns with the 112’s, is the lack of a tweeter.
I’ve found that the cabs reproduce enough of the highs to keep me happy (especially when I slap) without getting that harsh tweeter noise that my Fenders can get. There’s a little of that high end zing that isn’t there, obviously, but there’s enough to have top end clarity. The Genzler cab had a bit more going on up high than the Oranges do, but it wasn’t enough to make me spend the extra $250ish per cab.
Got my Terror 500 today, couldn’t take it and left work early. Hooked it up to my 2 Ampeg speakers and to sounded amazing, love it. I hope it sounds the same through the PA as my speakers. I had the clear off and the gain up about 1 or 2 o’clock and it sounded great but not as distorted as some of the videos, I can turn the gain all the way up and not have the distortion I hear on videos. I didn’t get it for the distortion. My OBC12’s will be here next week. Check out all the equipment this will replace.
