I'll definitely be looking out for your opinion. I wasn't really all that interested in the LBT since I really love the Terror Bass, but if you say it sounds great well then that got my ears perked up.

I’ll definitely keep you guys posted as to how the two compare. They’ve got a Terror Bass, Little Bass Thing, OBC112, and an OBC115 on hand there, so I’ll use what I’m familiar with and swap the two heads out on the 112 to do my comparing.
I got the LBT but sent it back, it does have a couple of anoying design flaws:
1. notched volume potmeter
2. master volume affects DI
3. the compressor just squishes my tone and I didnt like it, the amp always compress some even with compressor off.
The positive tough is that it seem too sound pretty good at moderate volumes, I also got a very punchy sound out of it and it got some baked in character which is nice, sounded good with my band at rehearsal, but at higher volume settings it started too sound nasty. Its not a bad head but I just dont see much pros with this head compared too a lot of the competitors.

Yeah, there's a lot of divided opinions with Orange's new notched Pots. I actually like them, but I totally see why that could be annoying. A separate DI volume should be definitely industry standard by now though.
just came across you folks perusing the threads. my newly(ish) acquired Terror Bass is getting lots of work lately. It was actually requested for service this Sunday, as our music leader will be filling in on bass as I'm off this week. He likes the tone a lot.

I cannot think of one good reason too like a notched pot, just makes it more troublesome setting the exact volume I want, however thats just me though.
Notched pots don’t bother me one bit. I’ve owned other amps with them in the past.

I have the new version of the Terror Bass. I would like to record out of the DI but I don't have a cab at home. The manual says:
IMPORTANT: A speaker cabinet of suitable impedance and power handling must be connected to the amplifier’s speaker outputs unless the DI Output is in use.
It sounds like I might be fine as long as the DI is plugged into something, but I can't bring myself to try it. To me, tube amp turned on with no cab is bad. Any experience on that?

Yes, actually. I wondered about this myself, and emailed Orange. They said, as far as I could understand, that it would be OK to use the preamp out without a speaker connected. I have used the 1/4” preamp out (effects loop) into another amp a couple of times, with the xlr going to the PA. No explosions so far.
Here is the text of the reply from Orange (I had asked about plugging the 1/4” preamp out into the power amp in of my old Acoustic combo amp):
“Hey Mark,
In theory, that approach would work. I have my doubts if it will
provide you with excellent results though as that effects loop send on
the Terror Bass is usually a pretty hot signal, which the Acoustic
might not like at all. It's worth a shot though.

@Izzno I haven’t tried it with just the DI out, so I can’t say how that would work. My understanding is that the effects loop interrupts the circuit so that the preamp signal doesn’t go to the power amp. The di doesn’t do this, so I don’t know how using just the di would work out.
The Terror Bass is not an all tube amp, only the pre amp is tube while the power amp is solid state. It looks to me like they copy&pasted most of the manual across all the amp models without bothering to edit the sections involving power amp tubes. Or lack of power amp tubes in this case. Anyway, the manual does clearly state you can use DI out without a speaker load (it is mentioned both at the speaker connection and DI out connection part of the manual).
Now, I do not have one myself but I would not hesitate to try and record through the DI out if I were you. Even without a speaker cabinet that is.

I just secured a berg NV215 from @Tim1 , wonderful man that he is.
There is no way that I’m plugging a ‘clean-n-clear’ amp into it- so I think I need me some orange!
Interestingly, on all the LBT demos, I don’t hear clean n clear, the compression and overall tone is still very tube-like to my ear, maybe without the tube-like break up.
Either way, I think it’s gonna be a TERROR VS LBT cage fight.

I am tossing up between a Berg NV215 or an Ampeg Heritage 410HLF for my AD200 and GK 700-RBII. The Berg is meant to be amazing but I keep getting reminded of how many kick arse shows I've been to that had the HLF on stage.
I'd be interested to know what you think of it with a dirty amp.
I debated left and right between a 4 Stroke and an OB1 500 for quite a while when some things
@mapleglo and @tombowlus told me, plus some videos on Youtube, made me think about the Terror Bass instead. Needless to say I am pretty happy with that decision.
I had the original Terror and I have the OB1-500. The TB is very portable, and the EQ is quite nice, very powerful, quite close to my AD200. The FX loop and DI were almost useless on the original, I hear that problem is gone on the re-issue (and they look stunning with the pics only face). The OB is another kind of monster, very flexible, killer DI, works good with pedals on the front, albeit no FX loop and less protable (but still quite easy to transport).
I'd be sold on the Little Bass Thing; Small Footprint, Portable, Compressor, FX Loop, DI... but it has no Gain Knob and I find A/B Amplification sounds a bit better with distortion than Class D. I will still give it a go someday.
