Got to thinking while driving the other day that the second tube in the TB500 is dedicated to the effects loop. What if you where to just loop a cable from the out to the in sending your signal through the second tube. Would that change up your sound a little? Just a thought, still haven't done a gig using my whole set up but rehearsals with just the one speaker rock. My band mates love the new sound, especially the guitar player.

I am tossing up between a Berg NV215 or an Ampeg Heritage 410HLF for my AD200 and GK 700-RBII. The Berg is meant to be amazing but I keep getting reminded of how many kick arse shows I've been to that had the HLF on stage.

I'd be interested to know what you think of it with a dirty amp.

Bergantino all the way! I do like the hlf410, but the Berg is on another level. Especially the NV215. And with an AD200B....
I find the larger NV cab is easier to move and load too.

Yes it would, but it would mostly be the cable doing the colouring.

If you dig the HLF, check out the Berg HDN410. It’s incredible, especially with tubes.

Is anybody using a single obc112? I want to replace my very heavy and muddy sounding 115 (ashdown with Celestion replacement speaker).

I've read a lot about how good two of the obc112 are when stacked. Ideally I would get two but it's taking long enough to save for one. I play in a pretty loud 3pc, but we don't have any gigs planned... and anyway they would only be in a small venue most likely.

My amp is a Hartke lh500. With the 115 I use currently I only have the volume set to about 9.30 o'clock (maximum) when we rehearse and it is loud.

Adding the second one makes the sound somewhat "fuller" for me, with more lower mids and more bass than with a single 112. But it doesn't feel that much louder, really. When practicing in our rehearsal space, I easily crack the 100 dB(A) threshold with a single cab already, with Master at noon and Gain at 2 o’clock on the 500W Terror Bass. i.e. it could go even louder at least in that room (approx. 30m2 / 320ft2). Usually we rehearse at a lower volume though. That's with a pretty loud drummer and a 4x12" toting guitar player, mostly Alternative Rock and Metal covers (80s and 90s).

Tonight I have a show and will finally get to hear both speakers in gig mode. Last show I did with the whole set up the sound engineer had this massive system and wanted total control so I actually heard the monitor more then my amp. Tonight we are using our pa with our sound guy so I'll actually get to turn it up a little.

Gig reports are the best! I’ll be waiting for it. I have access to a Carvin BX1500 at our rehearsal space, but the TB500 sounds so much better.

So I spent a bit of time with the LBT in store yesterday. Played it through a Heritage 810, which was pretty nice! Overall there is a touch of spongy compression at all settings. The compressor is really quite quiet and works really well. It obviously boosts into a fixed threshold, so it effectively is another gain stage. I liked it best at around 10-11 oclock. Quite a bit of brightness on tap. I could dial in some ULTRA punchy tones with the Stingray Classic I was testing with. I quite liked it. I dont know if I liked it better than the bass terrors I have used in the past, but a cool amp nonetheless!

Ha ha! Not bad at all! Us Kiwis know that it is EVERYONE ELSE with the accents anyway!

I'm not too sure about the post-everything DI though.

Mullard. I don't know if I mentioned it, but when I got my Terror Bass (current version), it had a bad tube. Tube said JJ on one side, and Ruby HG on the other side. I had a couple of JJ 12ax7's laying around, and put one in. Solved the problem, and sounded pretty good. Fast forward a bit, I saw the Mullard 12ax7 on sale at Sweetwater for around $15, and ordered one. I just put it in, and I don't think I'll have to try another tube until this one goes bad. If possible, this amp sounds even thicker with this tube. The distortion is also a bit smoother and less raspy. I expected a subtle, or even undetectable difference, but not so. Still sounds like the same amp, but better.

Hi! I'm more and more getting into Orange amps. I've tried the OB1-300 and I was super pleased, so I'm thinking about a OB1-500...BUT, I like the valve flavor of the Terror 500 more. I'm only worried about the EQ. Is it just an impression or is it less versatile than the OB1? I play stoner rock with a loud guitar and loud synths, I'm worried to not cut into the mix enough with the Terror...any advice/experience? I use an SVT410HLF as a cab (that I'm not going to change )

The Terror Bass is ridiculously loud. I own both the TB and the 700rb II and the TB is definitely on par and maybe even louder than the GK, but it will be crazy crunchy at that volume.

Start with the EQ around 9:00 bass, 3:00 mids and 9:00 treble and you'll have no problem cutting through. From there you still have quite a bit of room for adjustment.

Funny enough, my Terror Bass came with a microphonic tube as well, right out of the factory. I replaced it with a TAD RT080 7025 WA and liked it so much I ordered a couple as spares.

It is indeed less versatile, but it has no problem whatsoever cutting through the mix. It can get muddy if the Synth is too bass, but that's an Band EQ issue and not something one Amp could solve.

Thanks! Since the Ampeg SVT CL already failed on me more than one time, I'm looking for a backup amp in case the SVT goes again in assistance (more than one month...), even if I'll hope to solve the problem with a stabilized power strip/filters or whatsoever. I'm very happy with the GK but I think that goes in a different way. When @Wicked G told me about Orange in another thread (thanks!) I'm thinking about selling the GK for the TB or OB1, since they seems more deep, round bass/dark oriented than the GK.
