I'm already # 64, but just bought an OBC-410 to complete the setup. Here is a new pic of the family!

Very nice! How do you like the addition of the 4x10?

i run an AD200 into an obc115 and obc410. they work really well together. kinda a push and pull relationship. the 15 gets that thick low endy stuff with the nice bottom (and i like how the mids and top sound through it too), and the 410 kinda fills out the tone with the whole spectrum.

i REALLY want to get an 810 though. so badly.

My 410 is on backorder for a couple of more weeks. I have an OBC115 and an SP212 right now, powered by a Terror Bass. Next up is an AD200b, and then another SP212. I will be able to have several modular setups out of all of this gear, and use them specifically for each application. From small rooms and practice with one SP212 and a Terror Bass, to Arenas with the AD200B/410/115 stack. Thank God I found Orange, Im very happy with my tone now!

Im excited, I pick up my AD200B on Sunday. I went ahead and ordered a Mercury Magnetics Output Tranny, and Im going to load it with JJ Tesla Pre/Power Tubes. Its used, so Im not just throwing money away, besides the JJ's will give me more clean tone, and the output tranny gives you like 40-50 more clean watts than stock. It also comes with a nice ATA case. Now, all I need is an 8x10 cab, a spare SP212 cab, and when the new Terror Bass 1000 comes out, I will trade my 500 up for that and Im set! No big hurry on the 8x10, hopefully by the fall though. Very Excited!

Good luck with your new to you amp!
Are you planning on replacing the output transformer yourself? If you don't mind, I'd like to hear your impressions of the amp's sound & feel before and after the transformer swap.

Curious how you get that wattage number?

My "new" AD200 has Mercury Mag trannies but I never seriously A-B'd it against my old head before I sold it. But it doesn't feel all that much louder.

The one thing I notice is that I have to turn the gain up more before it breaks up. But mine has many other mods as well, so I'm not sure if the tranny is the key there. But maybe that supports what you said about the clean watts?

The pic with the Milk on top, is that "Purity" milk? LOL.

As for the extra wattage on the MM Output Tranny, there is a site on the net that shows an AD200B being upgraded and the report shows that the MM boosts clean power wattage, up to 206 watts clean, and 241 total, versus the stock 160 watts clean, and 183 total. Thats nearly 50 watts of clean gain and power.

I picked up the amp, its in Mint condition, just needs the tubes to be biased. I ordered Electro Harmonix KT-88's because, again, they are supposed to be higher gain, but slower to go into overdrive. I actually want to get the cleanest, warmest, 3D tube tone, and am not after the natural overdrive tone. Finally, I have ordered a vintage NOS Telefunken 12ax7 for V1, a vintage RCA 5751 for V2, and a vintage Tung Sol 12at7 for V3. I read online that another guy used these tubes to accomplish what Im after, so well see. The head sounds amazing as is, and I dont imagine these little things will change it much, I really dont want to change it too much, I just want to get the most clean gain and power that I can get, not really change the tone or charachter that much. Maybe tighten the low end up slightly.
My OBC410 has been shipped and should be in this week, so my rig is almost complete. One other note, I took the original 12ax7's out of the AD200B and put them in my Terror Bass, seemed to open it up slightly. I also bought a Hosa XLR attenuator online for the Terror Bass' D.I. output. The attenuator can reduce the signal by 20, 30, or 40 db. That signal is so hot out of the D.I. that I think attenuating by 40 db would be best. Gonna try it tonight, so well see.

Thanks Theaterbass. I found the story. (Mine is the Tim Schroeder modded one you see written up in Premierguitar mag.)

I'm using the preamp tube config you mention, but with Winged C KT-88s instead. Can't say I noticed a big change in tone when I changed the preamp tubes, but I really don't have the best ears for such things.

It sounds like you'll be happy with the increased headroom. But now & then I miss the earlier breakup. Please post your impression when you finish with the mods.

Yessir, some good food up here. Please give a shout if another tour brings you up here.
