i still dont know anyone who took the neck off and measured the pocket cause that was the main hold-up on me buying one...if a charvel neck fits, or a concert/CMG...etc i would have already got a blue or red one

Im 99% sure they are the same basic neck. If I get a chance Ill pull some necks this weekend

I bet the Charvel necks are smaller. I tried my CMG neck on my PS5 the pocket was to small.

Since I have a little less to do tomorrow, it's my intention to get some photos of The Kids, especially since I don't have a good one of the 4B. Also have a JS40 to get a better "before" photo of for when I start working on that one. Its getting all new hardware, but I figure it's worth the investment for a couple reasons: its really, really light even with an alder body, and the neck is in really great shape considering how banged up it is. I only have $79 in it anyway.

In person u cant aee the brown dots but under flash on cam its totally noticable

ya i was gonna say take another pic, but you already know the flash is whats lighting them up.
(now that it has fins repaint the head with a jackson usa sticker and nobody will know the difference from 6 feet away...lol )

I don't know either. The blocks are cool, but the fins would really make it a Jackson.

The fin neck would be better. I do like the maple boards on the Ellefson model. I would pick the 5 string version up if it was blue

That's a pretty sweet bass and thanks for posting that. I never got into Journey back in the day, but dude is a solid player and I got some new stuff to learn.
On the studio version of that tune, he's got a mean ass tone and I like it!

Here's my JP. It's gone through a few changes over the years. The original rosewood board was replaced with a fretless ebony board. It has a new bridge, Jess Loureiro pickups and a Noll preamp now. I just got it back from having it fretted too. The slim neck was just too skinny without frets. I had 6105s installed, it really feels right, now.

I was hoping the Charvel experts here would take a good look at this bass and give me their opinion. Nitro finsh thoughout--- light checking on the body, and some wear on the fretboard, 2 piece body is finished in trans red. Brass nut, bridge, and strap buttons: http://www.usacharvels.com/id/pg12.htm Dimarzio pots date to 1983 per: http://www.usacharvels.com/id/pg16.htm Bare steel trussrod nut looks like a #5 on this page: http://www.usacharvels.com/id/pg15.htm. Back plate is brushed aluminum but is a 2 hole(the traditional 3 hole layout can be seen in the cavity). Neck pocket and neck heel are NOT standard 2.5 inch width.
