Okay, I waded through the entire thread and updated the membership. I cross-referenced magneezius’s last membership list (page 5) with everyone who posted pictures or links. Make a post here if I managed to overlook you.

I do think it should be a requirement to post a picture before being assigned a number. There were a few requests for membership I saw where there were no pictures uploaded or linked – if you’re not on the list and still interested, re-post and put up a picture! No picture, no official number!

I’m getting e-mail notification of new posts on this thread, so no PMs to me are needed. Just make your post w/ picture!

Like I said, if you guys don’t want someone who doesn’t own a Tobias running this club, I understand. It should be easy for someone else to take over now, just run with my updated list.

WayneP - thanks for picking this up. I for one have no issue with you doing it - better a competent and interested non-Tobias owner (and you'll come over to the dark side if you stay on this thread) than a non-involved owner, IMO.

I own a Tobias Classic, Quilted Maple top with Wenge and Walnut (I think) body and back. Beautiful bass. The finish I think is some sort of natural oil finish.

Question: any suggestions as to what oil or wax to use not just on a regular basis as maintenance, but also to do away with small scratches? I've heard it mentioned to use carnauba wax.

Folks,
have you hever heard of a basic pre gibson with a rosewood fretboard and dots instead of the usual undotted pau ferro board ?

Mike dotted some of his fretboards. Pau Ferro is very similar to rosewood, it could actually be PF, or Mike may have made one with rosewood. But the dots are definitely not an issue.

I recently became the proud owner of a 1997 Tobias Growler 5. I'm planning on getting some pics made soon but before I do I need to address some minor, but rather noticeable marring to the satin finish. It appears in several places and looks like rub marks. Other than that, the little beastie is a beauty and plays like a dream. This is my first experience with a low B. I think I'm going to like it.

Anyway, does anyone have any info on how to address and perhaps fix this type of marring? The owner's manual refers to a Satin Finish repair kit. Do they still make it? I tried to contact Gibson, but, so far, nothing.

Anyway, after I get this little beastie cleaned up (I should really start calling her "Blondie," I'm told that that was her name in a prior life lol) I'll submit my photos and petition for membership in your club. lol
