Guys i have a question i bought a basic 5 usa wc for $1500. You gus think it was a good purchased? It is in good shape too..
What WC means ?
Thanks you guys !!!

Pre-Gibson, or post?

FWIW, I would normally presume WC stands for "water closet," but I hope it stands for something else in this situation... :smug:

Turns out my little brother bought one of these 15 or so years ago when he worked at a local music store. He doens't play bass. It sat in the case all this time at my parents house. It has never been played!
I bought it from him, put new strings and a couple of batteries in it (that god there were none in there) plugged it in and WOW- I love it. I can get a few really nice tones out of that thing and the neck is fantastic.
Can I please be in the club? Pics to come soon!:hyper:

Click “Post Reply” to open the dialog box. In the tool bar at the top of the box, click on the paper clip icon. This will open another box. Click “Choose File” and find the picture of your bass stored on your computer. Once you select it, click “Upload.” After it uploads, close the box.

Back to the original “Post Reply” box, insert your text in the box. At the point of you post where you want the picture to appear, click on the paper clip icon again. A window will appear and you’ll see the name of your picture file. Click on it and the picture will be inserted into the body of your post.

Alternately, you can simply forgo inserting the picture into the body of the post. When you submit the post, the attachment will be automatically show up at the bottom of your post.

Thanks Wayne, but I have no paper clip icon. Maybe because I'm not a paid member? RATS!
Are you sure you're not just using the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of the page? You can't do attachments from there. Can only be done from the boxes that open with the "Post Reply" or "Go Advanced" buttons.

I know you don’t have to be a paying member, because I’m not. It might just be that new members have to rack up a certain number of posts before being allowed to do attachments. Try PM’ing a moderator, maybe they can help.

How would anyone compare the original Tobias basses to the MTD basses? Which is superior?

I can't speak for the MTD basses; never have owned or touched one. I have, however, owned three 5-string Gibson Tobiases: Killer B, Basic and a beautiful Classic, in that order. All were superb instruments in every sense of the way. In retrospect, my fave when it came to tone and feel was the Killer B, which is why I am looking to get another one at some point in the future.

In any case, my comments may not mean much to you given that not only can I not compare the two, but it also sounds as if you are referring to the pre-Gibson Tobias in your comparison....?

Yeah, the pre Gibson era. How do they compare to the MTD basses?

A difficult question as not everybody likes the same things. From comments in other threads, it seems the "TB consensus" is that MTDs are better, the thinking being Mr T has only gotten better at his craft as time has gone by. To me it seems more that with the old Tobias basses he perfected one type of bass. With MTD he began building and perfecting a different type of bass. I wouldn't say one is good, and one is bad.

I prefer the tone and feel of the early pre-Gibson Tobias basses. I have only played MTDs in music stores, but none of them have "grabbed" me the way my Tobias did with the first note I played on it. We play hard rock, along the lines of early Sabbath with some other elements thrown in and a bit of talent subtracted. My Basic is great for this.
