You got the padauk TWB from VSN!
I was going to get that last year,but my tax refund wasn't enough.
It has it in my cart for a while! This os going to take the throne from my old Yamaha TRB-6II. I haven’t been issuing a six live because I like my TWB-53 way better. Has to rework a bunch of bass parts to work on a five. Can’t wait to transition back!
It was the first I was aware of,that was back around 1983-1984. The Bass Centre in London brought 2 over from Japan,both were Maniacs.
It is so odd to me that of all the 5- string basses available in 1986, to session musician Gerald Albright (Yamaha, Steinburger, Guild Pilot, and MusicMan), he decided to play a Tune Maniac in Anita Baker's live performance of the "Rapture" cd. You can finally see the headstock and guitar-like string spacing after 37:17. I remember now, he was the reason I played my basses so high.
What's odd about it. In 1986 the Tune was a $2k+ bass built by top class craftsmen.
As you can see, I'm a big fan of Tune maniac basses!

TWB-63 with mahogany core and paduak top. Plays fantastic, but I play some higher register tapping and the strings buzz a little bit when I do that. Not as pronounced through an amp but I'll probably do a slight setup when I get the strings that I want on it.
That being said, it plays just as easy as my TBW-53! Also, judging by the serial number, this is a 2013. Been sitting in that case for a LONG time.

You can adjust the gainpots for the pickups and the notch filter for the sound on the preamp.
Even though the string spacing is wider than my Yamaha TRB6II, the scale is an inch short, which surprisingly is a big deal. Going from my TWB-53 to my Yamaha TRB6II feels like a different animal. Going from the TWB-53 to the TWB-63 feels almost like the same bass? It's weird. The high C feels more natural.
Hey all! Here's my TWB5T. Really neat bass, but a bit of a boat anchor (over 10 lbs). Very nice crisp tone though. Going to briefly cover this and a few other instruments during my next bunch of Fresh Look videos.

I thought, the Piezo only option was for the 3 octave Maniac only, but apparently I was wrong...
I don't know what the electronics of your bass looks like.
You can open up the electronics and compare it to the pic.
Hello! Yes. So on my youtube channel, I do full reviews which are generally 9-15 minutes and judge the bass on certain criteria. The "fresh look" videos are just me briefly talking about and playing a bass. I use those as a tool to gauge interest for full reviews.
