Wow, I leave for a few hours and all hell breaks loose!!
Hi, Brian!! Welcome back!! See, in this forum, we're actually able to speak our minds without fear of deletion when our comments hurt your feelings.
Sure, you have a factory in Italy now, that's great. But that totally proved my point about outsourcing. How many American employees work there, other than administrative staff?? Yeah, that's what I thought. It's ok, cheap labor is cheap labor.
As for the similarities between the Irig HD and the Apogee Jam, come on!! It's impossible to deny!! No sense arguing chicken or the egg, it isn't about that.
You can get as heated as you like, delete me as much as you want, but the simple fact is that IK has been beaten at your own game. You can quote sales figures and spin this however you like, but TONE doesn't lie.
I left IK for the same reason as Duke21. See, I was also an IK "power user", until your hostility here and Peter and Obi's on the IK forum caused me to rethink my loyalty. It's pretty simple really. Treat your customers with respect, listen to their needs instead of being defensive. Any time we've posted suggestions, it has been out of a real desire to see Amplitube iOS improve. Sorry you didn't see that.
I'm also sorry that my style of posting offends you. This is the Internet, dude. If you beat around the bush and just offer lip service, posts get lost and forums end up with useless information. By being blunt and to the point about how Amplitube can be improved, my comments can actually be found in a search if IK ever desires to truely listen to their customer base and try to improve customer relations.
The IK forum. Hmm. Ok, let's talk about the IK forum. 40,000 users, huh? You may have 40,000 "registered" users on your forum, but how often do they post, or even return a second time?
This thread and others like it are growing at an unbelievable rate. I've lurked on the IK forum and have actually seem days where I was the ONLY poster!! I can understand why. A forum should be a place where people can come together and discuss your product and how it relates in the real world. Unfortunately, the IK forum is just one big "ad" for IK. Your moderators have made sure of that by deleting anything that disagrees with your marketing model. It's an extremely one-sided forum, and because of that, completely useless in the real world. See, no matter how defensive you, Obi and Peter get over this, the simple fact is that this all started when Duke, Adam and I came to IK with suggestions to make Amplitube iOS a better app. Nothing more. We offered suggestions based on not only our personal use of Amplitube (like Duke, I went "all in" with AT iOS, I bought ALL the in-app addons) and also based on our discussions here.
So Brian, it's like this. We've tried to get along with you (IK). I understand you've been sent here with a script for "damage control", I get that. The reason it takes so long for a response is that IK has to get just the right spin on our posts to make it seem like IK cares about us. I've been in the real world for a long time, and have been a salesman for most of my working career. I understand the game. Just for the record, I was at one point a salesman at GC, where I sold.. Wait for it.. IK Multimedia products. That's right, I was actually at one point on the other side of this argument, trying to sell your products to those 40,000 pimply teenagers looking to play Enter Sandman in their bedrooms.
Musicians First. We didn't say it, IK did. But talk is cheap, and when you consistently turn your back on customer relations and offer nothing but hostility and lip service, you eventually lose at your own game.
So as you can see, I haven't ALWAYS been an IK "hater". I put more money into your iOS app than most of those 40,000 pimply teenagers ever will. I waited patiently for IK to step it up for us bassists, I offered suggestions to improve the bass gear in AT iOS.
But you, Obi and Peter are IK's "damage control" division. We all get that. I don't hold a grudge.
See, Brian, I still have Amplitube iOS in my iTunes app library, whatever you call it. I've deleted it from my device for space concerns, but I continue to hope to see IK step it up for us bassists. What you've failed to realize is that even though there have been hostile conversations between us all, this group of bassists is probably IK's best bet for a connection to their customers. We've got some REAL experience with Amplitube iOS, power users if you will.
Ask your 40,000 other users for suggestions. Go ahead, do it on YOUR forum. Then wait. Because THIS forum actually gets posts, and more than one or two a week.
Or, be a part of this one, and actually get real information that sometimes even gets very technical, something your 40,000 Kirk Hammett wannabes won't be able to offer.
So go ahead, Brian. Continue to be hostile. It's ok. See, while you're busy doing that, you're missing the whole discussion. IK is so concerned with "damage control" that you're ignoring the original point.
