Official Zon Club Part 3

I've been too busy to post lately, but I picked this up a few weeks ago. It's a 2005, but was either owned by a collector or a shop that went out of business (still had the factory strings on it). The guy selling it has sold 100's of instruments lately and about 6 of them Zon's. It arrived with all the dealer paperwork, so I assume he was a dealer or bought it from a dealer. Anyway, when I got it, it had a 2 Band EQ (Bart I assumed), but all the Zon's I've owned previously had a 3 Band with a Mid Switch, so I ordered a Bart 4.7. The preamp swap was as much a visual upgrade (looked odd with only 3 knobs and no switch) as it was tonal. I installed it today, and took a few quick pictures. To my surprise, it had a Polyfusion preamp in it. Doesn't sound a lot different; might even be a little darker now, but it does sound great.

Beautiful bass!! The Poly might have a bit more high end, but they're also hissier I've found. I prefer the Bart sound on these babies. Hope you find you do as well. Enjoy!

I have a chance to pick up a late 90's Zon Sonus 4 string. I don't know much about used Zon prices. I can get this one for $900 with the Zon bag. What do you guy's think?

I acquired a Hyper Bass about 2 years ago and it had some history and damage from a player's crazy Girlfriend who used it like an ax.

The original owner was some Korean guy. He had lines 1/2 way between standard dots and then the dots right on top of where the frets would be, never seen thing like it.........ever. Zon tried to talk him out of it also.

I had Joe remove that, fix the pretty hefty dings, put 4 detuners on it. He suggested just refinishing it and making everything look nice. Detuners are real awesome.

Thing looks brand new.

Also picked up the new Redwood burl Vinny. Joe said it is the lightest bass he's made, 6.5 lbs. Has a warm tone/sound to it.

Pics forthcoming.

Just restrung my Vinny 4 with EB Cobalts and as much as I love the stock Zon strings the Cobalts give me the same clarity and zing but with more bottom. I actually turned the bass boost(I normally set it a fifth past neutral) back to neutral.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a bit more bottom on their Vinny's.

I got my Sonus strung with cobalts and I love the sound, but after just two weeks they are dying...:(

Hey guys, need some help. Looking at a Zon legacy elite vi fretless. It had only four knobs, i haven't seen any like this before. Maple center block, poplar wings, blue finish, says neck thru, i think it's set tho. Does this bass sound legit? think its worth $1000? Thanx for any insight guys. Gotta love tb!

It has a two-band preamp. Not weird. If it's a three piece body it must be old. What other information is there?

Price is cheap.

Its a 94, guy didn't know incredible amount about out, but he said it was custom from Zon, 1st owner, Barto pickups, that's all i know so far, what should i ask? I'm not really a six stringer, but is this one of those deals to not pass up? This bass has me so confused as to what it is...
