I like the vintage logo; Joe should use it more often.

yah, personally, i think the vintage logo should always be on the legacy, and then the modern logo on the rest.

So, I'll just float this, sorry if I've posted something like it before.
I've been interested in getting a Zon Sonus 8 ever since I read the Bass Player review back in 96. You know, last century. But I have not been able to put enough money into the "Zon 8 fund" to order a new one. I've seen two of them come up for sale in the last couple years, and tried to buy each. No luck.

So to this group, here's the ask:
Does anyone have a Sonus 8 that I could play just to see if I love it enough to really focus on getting one? I have read that they play great and sound great, but I really don't know. How much better does it play compared to my Schecter?

Yes, I am willing to drive as far as 5 hours each way to test one out. No, I'm not going to try any high-pressure sales nonsense on anyone.

There's a nice Zon Custom 8 fretless on Reverb currently strung as a 4. Price isn't bad. Just get it fretted.

Thanks, I've been watching that one, but even with frets, it would not be what I want. I'm looking for that classic Sonus 2-knob with the thin Barts. There was a red Sonus 8 that I bid on, but in mid-negotiations, he decided not to sell. :(

My point is this: I have an 8 string that plays pretty good. It's cheap ($500) and heavy, but I got a good set-up done on it. I've been fascinated by the Sonus 8 for years. I want to try playing one to see if I really think it's "all that" or just a small amount better for a ton more money.

Anyone know where I can play one?

I got these pics from Martin a couple of weeks ago. Glad to see some progress being made and hopefully I will get it before the holidays. 91C2809E-A5C2-4FA6-B3F7-658ED87A2E34. 5BD0152A-5385-444E-AAC6-306797A0448B. E1111995-C427-4C37-986F-9CF1E2716700.

Glad part of that story has wrapped up :)

I was due a bass from Zon in September, so technically I’m overdue by a little bit. The good news is that Martin has been very responsive so far (I’m trying to only ping them every 4-6 weeks). Right now my estimate is end of the year, I’m crossing my fingers!!

Here's to hoping for you! Good that they've been responsive.

If mine isn't finished by the end of the year, I'm probably going to lose my cool.
