Official Zon Club Part 5

Anyone know the deal with Sonus neck profiles?
I bought a Sonus Special thinking the neck profile would be the same as the Sonus I already have.
It's wider and thicker.

Neck swap isn't possible.
FYI
the Red one is 2007 no truss rod
the Special is 2015 with truss rod

Weird that the 2007 has no truss, though I think for a number of years they didn't put them in every bass (if I recall him mentioning). My 2006 definitely has one.

I think the trussed neck are slightly deeper, though owning some of each and being very particular about neck profile, it's not a huge difference.

What you may be noticing more is the J- versus P- width neck. Their 4 string necks can be ordered with either width. I prefer the P-width in a 4 but I have one of each and it does feel quite different.

That's my guess, anyway.

Looking at the Vinny 5 post in the classifieds, the seller mentions he ordered a year ago. It literally boggles the mind how some folks get their instruments basically on time, and others (myself included) have to wait 3+ years. Sorry to beat the dead horse again, carry on...

It's clear that Zon has some struggles with production. My wild-ass guess: if an issue comes up during a build, then the bass just sits, and focus goes to getting other builds out on time, or reasonably close. IOW, the attitude could be "better to have 6 customers 3 years late than 18 customers 6 months late" (I'm just making up numbers, obviously).

That makes sense to me. The second there is a brief delay or a part doesn't show up on Monday as expected, it gets shelved and then quickly forgotten as other orders that have everything available take priority.

Interesting. I have a July 2006 build and as far as I can tell, no trussrod. Doesn't need one either. The only adjustments that axe has ever needed is B string saddle height if I flip from tapered to traditional strings.

@mrgittleman have you had any further contact or progress updates? I'm really hoping that you get your bass soon, and think about you when I see this thread.
Was promised delivery in March. Spoke to Joe April 5 and he had "excuses" and quoted 2 more months so will call next week. My wait is only about half as long as @Angus so I consider myself lucky.

Big wookie growl. I am sorry you are still getting run around.

Folks, you may have noticed that Zon's trouble with some seriously backlogged orders has led to a sticky thread on this forum.
We're keeping a list there.
If you have a bass on order that is more than 9 months past its promised delivery date please PM me and I'll add you to the list.
