Pete Skjold always told me that the detent was set at 50% boost, which seems about right. IME/IMHO, the detent does make it a bit easier to get repeatable results on the fly, but yes, it takes a little getting used to.

Just noticed this post Leon- if you're ever in southeast CT, my fretted TJ5 has a Pope preamp and my fretless TJ5 a Polyfusion preamp if you want to hear how they sound.

Bryan, I may just take you up on that. With the Bart preamp, I'm noticing a few amazing tones amongst a lot of mediocre of tones. This could be interesting as the pickup placement on my TJ is the non standard "Damien Erskine" variety with both pickups right next to each other by the bridge.

I'm in the middle of changing the electronics in a Pedulla Buzz. I'll contact you when I'm done with that.

The TJ model is an amazing world class instrument...but built to your own individual specs, is truly a thing of sublime beauty. if this is the type of bass you like, I'd be hard pressed to find another bass that could out perform it, i've tried many, and I'd say different, but nothing comes even close- IMO

Well, the TJ model is the Sonus with 2 more frets, a deeper cutaway and (sometimes) a one-size-up body. So what you are really saying is that a Zon is a world class instrument.

I'd agree. Thus why I own three and am waiting on another.

Absolutely Chris!

All the stuff you mentioned above as well as the 16.5mm bridge, small fret wire (which in IMO makes a HUGE difference in feel), spalted alder body instead of the ash…(and all this is standard features)... and in my case 3 radiused pups that can be adjusted up or down to create a "Louvered-Ramp", and of course the best composite neck in the business, yeah, I'm pretty happy! About as perfect a bass as I can come close too :)

BTW- I'd love to hear the specs on the last bass your having built?

Hope people at Zon will get some serious help with external contacts / workflow soon.
That's unbelievable, I asked them for a quote for a serious restore work on a Legacy and never got an answer.
I live in Italy so calling them is not an option.
