Oh look, it's another relationship-thread!

Like i said, I can't know for sure. But this guy is a good friend of mine, and the way he's explained it to me (on several occasions) is that she's been pretty clear about them just being friends and he's been sticking around hoping for something more. Which is exactly what she told me last weekend as well.

Sounds to me like you're in the clear then!

If you're gonna go for it, let your friend know out of respect for your friendship and then go for it. You're not obligated to him at all in this scenario, but out of respect just give him a heads up so he's not shocked or at least he's not shocked because you didn't tell him.

If she dumped her husband and is willing to dump your friend....... eventually she's gonna dump you too!
Not at all true from what the OP says - she's never had relationship with his friend, the ex is an ex. The friend only has his one-sided desire. As long as she hasn't been leading him on or anything it's really none of the friend's biz-ness. But I'm thinking the OP should talk to his friend first and get a somewhat lay of the land. The friend may need a few days or weeks to figure out how he's gonna act now. IF he was really crazy about her it may just be painful for him to see the possible new couple together.

Go for it. Usually you need to bring a shoe-horn, grease, wine, dinner and whine. Sounds like you'll be sliding in to home on the budget plan! Just talking about it almost makes me wish to be single again.

For the record....hope is a crappy strategy.

First date: Dinner and a churchburning. It's how we roll. :D

Obviously, I'm looking to all the wrong places to find a boyfriend. Not that I'd actually know what to do with one if I got one. Kiss him and then set him in the corner maybe? How much do they eat?
