Ok you have $2,000 to spend...

The '83 Fender Precision Elite I, exactly like this one minus the gold hardware, although I just read that those white pickups on the Elite I & II were active. Not sure I want active pups.

It's hard to fit a "wish" bass in under $2k that is much lower and just a "it would be nice" bass.
Maybe a Lakland Skyline 44-64 PJ, a Nash PJ, or a custom Dunable (I don't think that will fit under $2k).
I think I would be more inclined to throwing it at a tube head to try one out.

I'm surprised not one person said hookers. Sad :(

You spend all that money on the wood and other components yet you cheap out on the jack, the one component without which any electric instrument is just a useless hunk of wood or plastic with a bunch of other stuff attached/inside.

Photo! Bonus points if it's of Mr Cole handing the bass over to you. Double bonus points if it's the Commotions guy and not just some Nashville session bassist only ten people outside the industry have ever heard of. :woot:
Fine, I'll buy a more expensive jack. Still within budget. Was just looking at StewMac parts prices.

That sounds awesome and I totally agree...
However that has to be the most exspensive Warmoth build I have heard off.

I can build my average for about 1k and that is with top parts.
Well, I could save money and get less expensive hardware and pickups and so on, but... it's imaginary money that someone handed to me!

jeez, I don't even know. I've played higher-end models of budget basses for so long, I'm not even sure where I'd go if I had that kind of money.

I really like the Schecter Apocalypse C5, and the Hellraiser Extreme...but that's just doing the same thing and I'd have a thousand bucks left over.

Presented with the question, I'm not sure at all what I want next...
