Old Bands that Still Have 'It'

Saw Deep Purple live a few years ago and they where terrible.
Then Todd Rundgren climbed the stage and he was even better then in the old days. Still growing strong!

Saw Stevie Wonder and his 21 (I think) piece band in 2012 in Margaret River at a winery - still has it by miles that bloke will have 'it' until he croaks! Best gig I've been to second only to RATM in 2008 at a Festival Hall (they were getting on a bit then too

That makes sense... I read an interview with Arthur Brown a few years ago in which he said, "You can tell how good a band are by how much they sweat on stage," (not his exact wording, but close). He also said that when he walks off stage at the end of a gig, all of his clothes are completely saturated with sweat!Words to live by.
I don't do rock so I can't speak on much of it. Most of the still touring funk bands are still killin' it. Chicago. EW&F. Tower Of Power. Santana. Prince. Sting. The Eagles. Van Halen. Check out the PBS Pop, Rock and Disco revival series! A lot of those artists are still puttin' it down!

I know that Tool isnt as old as some of the bands named, but for me, Im 34, since theyve been around for more than 20 years that is an "older" band. And of mostly all the bands I can think of that are still around and doing their thing from when I came of age, Tool still hasnt lost a damn thing. They just keep getting better. Now only if they could keep getting better every couple years as opposed to every 8 to 10

One of the only "old" bands who are still going strong WITHOUT having broken up, reformed with new members, and then lived on the "reunion tour' bill.

Saw YES last Summer and they were great. Yep.. new singer (young guy).
But Squire, Howe and White even though showing their age physically still have it. New LP arriving this Summer and doing Fragile, Close to the Edge and some new stuff on tour this Summer in the States.

Thankfully, this thread hasn't become one in which people start listing which bands they wish didn't play anymore. The moderators wisely shut down a thread in which that happened months ago. Some "old" bands still have it, obviously, and that's what this is all about. As for the ones who may not still have it, that's a problem that only they can deal with themselves. When the audiences stop showing up, that in itself will take care of things, though.

REO Speedwagon, Rush, Journey...bands I saw 20+ years ago and again in the last few. I'd add Kansas, while their energy level is down--but musically still bring it.
I usually don't go in for nostalgia tours. That is: reunion tours, or bands that haven't released a decent album/AN album in over a decade. That being said, I saw Echo and the Bunnymen and they were great! Also saw Teenage Fanclub open for the Vaselines (or was it the other way around) and both groups were fantastic! (Of course, Teenage Fanclub never really fell off).
