There are certain other substances that will prompt that hair-raising discomfort, but for me it's mostly rough, unfinished 'hairy' wood. It's not that you break out in a rash or anything, it's more like you'll drop the utensil as you shudder and writhe through the frisson of wrenching discomfort.

Heh, you said frisson.

I think I have that pepto-bismolia thing too. My theory, which could of course be completely ridiculous, is that it's a Pavlovian response from having had numerous wooden tongue depressors stuck down my throat as a kid.

we have to look into various payment options/methods. we're thinking about the credit card thingy, among others.

right now, the only holdup for the cds being available is the liner notes being finished - the cd is done, mastered and waiting to get replicated.

ooooo, I'm excited, I've been waiting on those for a long time. :) it'll be good to hear a 7-string that isn't in the hands of bill dickens....

Judging from Hammie's and JT's lack of response to Slammer, I am starting to wonder if something/someone here (in this thread or at TB) has ticked Hammie off.

Now, I am 99.99% (Down from 100%) sure Hammie isn't going to "steal" this wonderful Wish. My prediction is that he'll quietly send it on to the next contributor and this thread will continue on from there.

What's your prediction?

Also, are you still around, Jared? Would hate to have TWO of the core people drop out. :hmm:

Bored,
Midnight

Quite frankly those that are bitching have a right to and John being a moderator you are more than a bit out of line to defend him as several more days without any results would demonstrate.

well- i have been purposely quiet because the $ i gave doesnt really matter- but i certainly wouldnt worry about Hambone being ticked iff about anything said here-- hes been given the benefit of the doubt times 20 and still no response- if people are starting to worry about whats going on- at this point, i feel its valid- it only takes 2 minutes to post a reply and apparently Hambone has participated in other threads-
like i said before- all i stated was that i was a j retro dealer and hambone posted not only here , but at the Dudepit about it- the same day!! so id say Hambone is way ahead that people are still being understanding about his disappearance- i know i shouldnt have replied here- probably gonna cause a stir-- but it HAS been too long for those who are wondering... and they certaily shouldnt feel bad for asking. Of course, no one in the right mind would want to steal a Wishy- but why make everyone wonder?? and hionestly- im not buying the "no time to respond" argument- with all due respect to you, JT, honestly- now that ive said that- im gonna try to stay away from this thread-somtimes im a little too outspoken and impatient and this is probably one of those times- but again- theres no reason Hambone should pissed at anyone- if thats the case, i couldve been pissed that i was questioned me about a dealership- I wasnt- and said nothing about it, until this - fact is , i trusted hambone with $20 without knowing him- and immediately following that- he didnt trust me with my statement
Hambone- please show up and explain to the people why you havent commented on the Wish-
i apologize im im ruffling anyones feathers- peace all- Adrian

not only am i a moderator, i also paid in on the bass, so by your measure i should be bitching as well, right? have you paid into the instrument? no? then how about keeping your "wisdom" to yourself? seems like most of the "bitching" going on in this thread is by folks who haven't even contributed to the project to start with - with the exception of adrian, everyone else who's complained about hambone's participation hasn't even participated themselves.

as for being "out of line", frankly bud, you are not in a position to gauge whether i am or not - funny that this is coming from someone who didn't even contribute anything to this thread but some complaint that it's not even their place to make.

any more comments from folks on here who did not contribute are going to get a more "stern and strident" warning. this is not a joke - if you didn't pay, you don't play. go back to tabcrawler.

seems like that really stuck in your side, there adrian. i know that if i had seen you post that, not knowing you like i do, i would wonder too - steve's made no secret in the past that he was the only distributor for the j-retro.

since i do know you, though, i realize that your word is worth trusting, and so i made no comment when i saw this and wondered to myself as well.

i also know allan pretty well over the past 3 or 4 years. i know that he spent close to $200 of his own money, as well as the whole day and much of the previous day, to prepare something really special for us folks at the last bass player gettogether that was held at his house - he cooked a frickin gourmet bar-b-q without even anybody asking him to. he and his wife spent quite literally days preparing that feast, and he didn't get a minute to sit and enjoy the get together itself, nor was he nearly reimbursed for the money he put in, let alone the time. all the folks that experienced that realize that allan's not the kind of individual to walk with a $150 piece of crap instrument that he could've built for himself and it would've been a hell of a lot better to boot.

that's probably why the 5 or 6 folks at the get together who also tossed their money into the fund for this "bass" haven't been bitching about this. i think if you had the opportunity to have met him, hung out with him, and shared his hospitality, you wouldn't be either, as i am also sure that if he had met you and knew you in real life when you made your j-retro post, like i have, he wouldn't have questioned it at all.

as for the rest of the hop-alongs who've decided that this is a prime opportunity to spout their meanderings, it isn't - keep them to yourself.

JT- i pm'd you with some thoughts- youre right- it stuck with me- thats because j retro had nothing to do with him- and in fact- Bass Northwest has been a j retro dealer for quite sometime-
much as you dont feel cats that didnt contribute should butt in- ( youre entitled to that)_ i felt that Hambone made it a very personal agenda to verify my post-
and until recently, i was worried about his well being- condireding that i STILL dont see why someone would want to make off with a Wish-
i understand if you know him to be different- i personally dont- and when he does read this- i hope he undertsands where IM coming from--
this is not life and death- being a frined of his- im sure youve suggested that hald a dozen words is all that is needed here to appease inquring minds-
i am not Hambones enemy- i dont even know him- i think my reaction has been a very human one-
ok, time to sit back and see what happens.. peace in the homefront- im only stating my opinions,, and we know what they say about opinions...:D

I think Turner killed Hambone and took off with the Wish, he's only replying in this thread so that we wouldn't suspect him.

If thats not the case, then I'm sure the Allan has good reasons for not being able to put up a response. I am 100% certain that he wouldn't take off with the bass! A few months ago I sent him my bass for some fixin (thats right, I sent my bass accross the country to a man I never met before) and he sent it back with 100 other things fixed that I didn't ask for. So I can't imagine that he would do something like run off with the bass.

So of course the only logical explanation is that Turner killed him. I've known never to trust Turner from the start. Never turn your back on a man that can't handle a 4 string is what my mom always said. She learned the hard way...

I don't wanna talk about it.

ok- lets all light up a spliffy- now we have people leaving and stuff- i knew i shpouldnt have said anything- me and my mouth--
ok, i didnt know Hambone- now i know hes a fine individual.. still wish he wouldve found a minute to post- but hey,, i spent a lot of time wishing... hey, i wish someone would pass the spliff here!!
please, guys- dont go leaving the board because of this- ok, life goes on--- peace!- A.
ps- Steve Barr even deleted the questioning thread because at the Dudepit -he thought it sounded distrustful- i never even mentioned it to him. For the record....
and my theory is that JT talked Hambone into letting Bill Conklin have it long enough to break the code and rip off the design!!... what? - Im serious!

I know what it is- im just pissy because Tower of Power is in town this weekend and Roccos back with them :D and i couldnt go - ( my daughter was sick, she comes first) and i have gigs Sat and Sun- so i dont get to catch them- ill probably meet him tomorrow for a while though- ill send love from all of us!!- peace- A.

did you make the comment about being a j-retro dealer in the setup forum? just a thought - since that's his forum, he might have felt the need to be thorough.

by the way, JT- i appreciate your trying to explain-
it would only take 5 minutes before bed time for hambone to do the same- straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak;)

that's very true - perhaps he doesn't realize what a crapstorm has been generated by his absence. granted, the ones doing the most storming are the ones that have the least to storm about, but still, i'm sure he'll post something soon - shoot, i'm supposed to see him sometime early next week.
