old "Let's buy a wish" thread

And as I've said before, I'm a contributor. But I didn't contribute expecting much of anything, other than to hear other people's opinions, maybe be able to play the legendary (??) Wish and to feel like I could freely chime in on the discussion. If the Wish never made another appearance I wouldn't feel jipped in the least. Now, I might think twice about going in on another project like this, but no biggie there either.

I'm just hoping to find out what's going on. And to keep this thread going, until the Wish either finishes its tour or turns into firewood.

You've painted a solid picture of Hambone, JT. I figured he was a good guy, but it sounds like he's the good guy's good guy. So, we'll wait and see. I just hope he starts posting again here so we can get his review and continued support. It's my impression that he's a strong contributor that really helps out other TBers.

Cheers, Richard

to be honest, when i talked to him, he sorta implied that he was doing something special - a sort of "in depth review".

it would be nice if he posted something, and if i wasn't in contact with him i would sorta wonder about this, like i do what happened to jon packard's "worst instructional tape", that disappeared when it was in angus' posession, and he disappeared not long afterwards.

still, though, i don't think he's going anywhere.

Let me start by apologizing to the forum for my sudden and extended absence. I understand that my layoff left many to wonder about my intentions with the Wish. I am sorry for causing a stir. I didn't intend to stay gone as long as it turned out. Any more explanation should be put down in Off Topic and I'll share more there. If anyone feels that they should be compensated for the delay, I'll gladly refund your donation. It's the least I can do to keep things above board.

The Wish is well and residing on the wall here in front of me. It's been mostly kept cased since the TBGT.

I guess that the next issue at hand is who gets this beast next? It comes in a gigbag packaged in a double box. As light as it is, this should be fine for several trips before needing some replacement.

welcome back to the Wish Foundation...hope all is well with you! Think we need to just move it East to West as recommended well back in the thread--don't know who had the "map" thing.

Oh--and make sure you sign that puppy before sending it to somebody else!

Hamster,

I have to say that I was growing a bit disappointed in you.

Not because of the delay in posting. That's no big deal. But because of the idea that you would actually besmirch your good name over a Wish.

That would be like deciding to steal a car and picking out a Yugo. :)

Anyway. All is cool.

Chas

Adron and I are probably the next closest, but we've already met it at TB Atlanta.

However, I'd be glad to record some tracks with it here at the studio if it does find it's way down here.

Or, if it turned up in time for Bass Summit IV, that would be cool too!

I'm glad this worked out. I knew Hammy would come through.
I really don't need to play the bass. I can tell from the look on JT's
face in that picture and the reviews so far that It's

well,

not my style. But you guys enjoy. Take pics with it in funny places
and post reviews so the world will know the truth about the Wishy guy!!:)

Thanx everyone for the words of encouragement.

A problem with posting the names of the contributors is that all I have as a full list refers only to the Donor's real name. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with just posting a list like that. And for the life of me, without a face to remember, I can't remember all of your handles

Any suggestions?

Or do I get to choose? I've got a lot of addresses somewhere in one of these folders that I could pick from.

I'm ready when you are.

I'd say just post the donor cities so it can be figured out in what order it'll be sent around. People will most likely recognize their own cities. BTW, if it helps, my screen name and real name coincide quite nicely ;)

Here's the locations I have:

Bastrop TX
Wichita KS
Overland Park KS
Las Vegas NV - Adrian Garcia
Mobile AL
Los Alamos NM
Nashville TN - Prime Mover
San Diego CA - Jared

I have two donors without addresses (One is Fuzzbass) and John Turner is here in Atlanta and wants to sign it since he's thrilled with it:eek:

This isn't such a huge line up so things should move along nicely.

The newest map here:

I think that is everyone, if you don't see your name, or you don't wish to play the Wish, just edit the map, really, I won't be offended ;).

I'm guessing that this thing will probably by about 10-15 bucks to ship UPS ground, and probably take 4-5 days MAX to deliver. So I'd say That everyone keep the bass for no more than 1 week (if you can stand it in your house for that long) and ship it off to the next closest person. That way, it will make its rounds to everyone within 4-5 months max. The map is just a rough outline, so specific addresses should be done via PM.
