Well, this is a concern. I have to figure out how to check this bass out before I commit to a bunch of $ - They are 8 hours drive away and that is not something I can do right now.

Just to let all of you know I could not bring myself to sell my MTD 635. I did another post titled I JUST COULDN'T DO IT. They just look to good together.

well, i just let the guys off the hook. i have to try the bass out before i start pitting big bucks into it. if it is there when i have it, great, i will check it out, but as of now, i took the hold off it because of my concerns for the ash neck. Upper mids do not appeal to me. It is a beautiful bass, though!

I think we like a similar vibe so it's probably a good move. Kevin B experimented with an all Ash bass and there's definitely an extra something to it that I didn't really care for. OTOH several other people loved it and it's now on Tobaggo. I guess ultimately it was more of that "lower" high end that was overshadowing the low mids.

well, after a couple of emails with Mike and considering I have the option to return the bass, I have decided to go ahead with plans to get the walnut MTD- God willing, it should be here next week.

getiing antsy.. MTD arrives tomorroww. Ari, your thoughts on the Ash neck? i will need some time to re-acquaint myself with the MTD thing. Preamp settings, the whole feel of the 6 string and of course , the Ash neck. Got a show in NYC this coming weekend and I am pondering if I am brave enough to bring the MTD, or play it safe with my beloved Nordy. I can only bring one bass. Tomorrow is brown Fedex lookout day!
