Old Peavey appreciation thread...

I wonder how that T-45 compares to a Lakland bass with a Darkstar pup?

I've not played a t-45, but I own a t-40, and I have played a Darkstarred Lakland Hollowbody and a Glaub (p-bass). The end result: I really like the peavey pickups, but they really can't hold a candle to the expresiveness and incredible tone of the Darkstar pickups.

I just picked up a Peavey Forum AX 4-string--I got it BIN for $250!

The thing is great---I have a lot of nice basses, but I instantly love this one. It certainly sounds different than my other basses---it's somewhere between p-bass and t-bird territory.

It's got a big neck, but it plays wonderfully.

I have Foundation, I'm not sure what year it was made but it's probably mid to late 80's? My dad and girlfriend got for me for Christmas one yea for 400 bucks (Canadian) with the hard case. I love it. It sounds good and it has a fast neck. I'd post pics but my girl has my camera right now.

Hey guys! Does anyone know where I can get a good peavey T-40? I was going to get the one on ebay, but it went up to 375USD, and although I could spend that much, I think I could get a much better deal than that. I was also concidering the natural colored one on ebay, but it doesn't come with a hardshell case and weighs around 15 pounds:eek: .

I was under the impression that weighing a ton was in the nature of a T-40. I was looking on ebay, too, and t-40s are expensive. Why is that?

Most likely it is because of the renewed interest in them. I was at Long and McQuades here and they were selling one for $400.00 CDN. The sound good but I wouldn't pay that much for a bass I can't wear comfortably.

I have an 89 Dynabass Unity. It's similar to unity bass' one. Mine's actually stripped of all the hardware and getting a refinish at the moment and it'll probably end up with a set of Villex pups in it.

I'd really love a natural early T40, but they're as rare as down here and most sellers in the US are reluctant to ship them neck off (to make importing reasonably affordable to me). It'd make a nice partner to the mint T60 I own.
