I have some slap lessons recorded with my T40. amazing bass, particularly as it compares to modern axes. Withstanding the test of time!

Wish I played 4 string more, I'd DarkStar my black-bodied T40 in a heart beat. My natural is my first good bass ( as the 74 Jazz I bought in 78, SUCKED!). So I knda hope no one buys it from me! Plus, I'm asking WAY too much at $275! ( OK shamless plug).

I will say this about teh T40's , as I've had a few go through my hands in the last five years, the rosewood boards tend to stand the test of time better. I've had fret work done on both the maple board ( actually its a one piece) T40's I own. Trouble is, I'm a buzzy maple board lover.

I usually run the T40 favoring the neck pup for rock, etc. MM tone there.

I Have a MIA peavey Foundation 4 string, my first bass..

3rd hand for £150

it is a VERY good bass for what i got it for!

i believe it has 2 J style p'ips, was made in america, and is passiveotherwise, i have no idea..

my teacher is a Peavey guy, two Rudy Sarz signiture models, and a six string peavey signiture model that he got for his 18th (hes about 30 i think) but unfortunatly that doesnt get much play, (exept from me :) )

Here I am a few years ago playing my mid-80's fury. I modded it with EMGs, and a hipshot D-Tuner. Since this photo, I've also defretted it.

It was my first bass, and has been a real workhorse. The original electronics were a bit suspect, but it's got a GREAT neck. It's a jazz profile neck. The tilt adjustment on the neck is the coolest feature... It made setting it up as a fretless total cake! I'm considering putting a nice vintage type passive pup in it and turn it into my old school R&B machine. I'm not as big a fan of EMGs now as I was in '92. :smug:

As far as what I know, the TL series grew out of Tim Landers' work with Peavey. He had been a big user of the foundation and dyna basses. I "believe" the first bass they worked on for him was what became the Dynabass Unity series. That one is VERY "TL4" like. It has the neck thru, flame maple, ebony board, big inlays, then the super ferrite pickups and 3 band preamp from the dyna series. TL5 lovers, note that the earliest TL5s also had these electronics, before they went to that wider pickup and 4 knob preamp (really 6 knob, as the mid was swept/level and the bass/treble was stacked too). I had a dynabass unity koa, which was also VERY nice. All koa/purple heart, ebony FB, P/J pickups, and the 3band fixed pre. I'd love to find another one, even though I am playing nothing but 5 strings these days.

My peavey basses over the years:

Axellerator 5 (way "spelling" on that one)
US Millenium 5


I'd like a T-40 and the afore mentioned DUK as well.

I'm probably the only other guy here old enough to remember that :( :D Every so often the light hits the body in a different way and it turns another color I haven't seen yet. At first I thought it was a little gaudy but I've grown to love it :cool: I still need to pick up a 4 to go along with it.

My c. 1981 T-40. I got it off ebay, and it came with the fretless neck installed. It seemed to me to be better as a fretted bass, so I switched it out. I have toyed with the idea of epoxying the fretless neck. Not sure if that would be wrong to do from a standpoint of it being all-original. It's in fantastic condition, but I am considering selling it.

I've also considered Dark Stars. It would cost $$$, but in a way, I'd love to hear it with Dark Stars and the fretless neck after an epoxy treatment by Thor. :D

Did he say that AFTER his term was up?? I don't think that had any effect on his capaign?? I remember but it's kind of fuzzy. That was a crazy era for me, LOL!!

Ya............later presidents got alot more that lust in their hearts :D :p

My TNT 130 was acting a little strange on me so I took it to the doctor today. Just some loose input soldering. :) Almost 30 years yrs old and ticking as if it were brand spanking new. I must add that this amp has lived in the back of a van for 3 years (not any more), and played over 1000 shows all over the east coast of the USA. I LOVE my Peavey.

He said it during the campaign. That was a lot more mild than Clinton & Lewinsky.:p
