i think the $585 T-40 was definitely atypical, there is still a steady stream of nice ones on ebay in the $200-300 range...probably too heavy for most folks anyway, at least as a daily driver...something like an SX is far more practical anyway*





*just trying to draw attention off of peavey so we can still get all the deals, there was a dyna-bass 5 (foundation with an extra string and an active/passive switch) on ebay the other day that went for A HUNNERT BUCKS...was a bit rough looking, but sheesh

Picked up an old Foundation today at the local pawn for $100 with a beat gigbag. Wow it sounds good to me. My first decent bass and I think I made the right choice.

I think it is an older model as it has the old style "P" knobs. Black gloss body with maple neck, super ferrites inside betzels. All stock. I like it alot!!

Thanks to all who said positive things about these basses, it sure helped me find a good affordable guitar to learn on.

Info: it's a great bass. When new the msrp was prolly $1200. Going price was about $850-900. Equivalent in construction and materials to a brand new Cirrus USA neck thru.

Maple/walnut? neck. Possibly Koa body wings.

There is a guy in the city I live in who has, for about five years now, intermittently been posting a Peavey Foundation 5 for sale.

It is black with a maple board, and has the pickups that look like soapbars but (as I understand it) are actually single-coils in soapbar housings.

He is asking $500 Canadian, or $369.28 USD as of this post. I've been tempted to go take a gander/play the thing every time I have seen it, but still haven't made the call. I'm pretty sure I could talk the guy down, too, given how long he has been trying to sell it...

It would be an addition to my current Peavey USAs: A Cirrus 6, a T-40, and a TL-Five. I have been jonesing for a black n' maple bass for awhile now too...:bassist:

He has also, for the same length of time, been trying to sell a tele-style Peavey guitar (white w/ maple board)- it's an EXP import, but probably a decent axe nonetheless...I'm not much of a guitar player, and I already have a couple to noodle around with, but I've thought of going to take a look and make an offer on both as a package deal.

I really love the sound of the 2nd gen Foundations. They are made for sounding killer on recordings. Also, I know that BXP Tele is a sweet guitar. I have a guitar at the house for recording, although I totally SUCK at guitar. In MY opinion, a Tele is THE perfect guitar. It can sound like anything from a Les Paul to a Strat, but they can't sound like a Tele.
If you got a package deal like $600 CAD for them, you'd be getting a great package deal on two instruments that are as good as anything out there.
