It was my honest opinion. Still is, even though my B-15N is getting the call more often these days. Can't blame a guy for being honestyou were all over MB like a bad suit!

True, I was a little gay for them when I first got one . . .
You want loud because of the size of the gig or because of the volume of the band?
I've found 112s to be essentially lacking for anything other than monitor support in medium-size rooms or larger (6' radius of throw before lost in the mix). My experience with them has been very good when that's all that was required of them, but in terms of providing some "meat" for the others on stage to feel/hear, I didn't find it adequate. I guess it just depends on how loud "loud" needs to be. Maybe I need to try that out again. The more I write this the less sure of my statement I become.
Carrying two 112s plus your gear bag and bass(es) would get tiring to me. Full hands with potentially awkward motions to not hit the cabinets on the walls. Yum. I would do it but not without the occasional grumble.
Carrying a 12" Scout combo up three flights? Be. my. guest. The tone and flexibility you would get from the Mesa is, undoubtedly, very nice (Motown, blues, rock and/or roll) and throws really, really well.
The filters on the Markbass Little Mark II would, I think, offer you an acceptably good palette of tones from which to choose. I thought it really warm but definitely not wooly. There are pedals for that. Choosing the cabinet that could better accentuate your love for your P Bass would be, to me, in a good 115 (with a tweeter, which can always be turned way down).
But what do I know? I live in Texas.
I haven't used any 112 that would keep up with either the Schroeder 1212L or 1210L.
this statement would seem to be pretty self evident. How would a 1x12 be able to match a 2x12 in overall volume unless the comparative efficiencies were way off.
just sayin'
Here's what you can do: Carry your bass in a gig bag and strap it over your back.
Then get the Schroeder Mini12 and Mini10 or two Mini12's. 20 and 17 lbs, respectively. Use one or both as needed. Then you can carry one in each hand.

Another option is to work out with some weights so the 30-40lbs doesn't seem so heavy.
What about the old school tone? Is it in there?
I must have missed where anyone busted anyone else's chops on this particular thread. And Liam's specifically. I see his opinions as very balanced and not at all pushy.
So, having said that first .....![]()
I get where an endorser has the right to do what the endorsed manufacturer expects .. put positive messages out on the gear they endorse. That's obviously one of the reasons for the endorsement game. It's also the reason for the TB disclosure rule and I support that totally.
BUT, I think that an endorser who repeatedly chimes in on a thread to keep a positive spin going in a discussion that has a basic questioning or negative vibe to it, is rightly going to have to expect some flack (should be polite and professional though) from the general audience here on TB. I feel that most player here come for good info without any salesmanship or bias. It's sometimes a fine line I know.
I mean, after all, an endorser is fundamentally biased by way of the endorsement deal. So, their opinion is going to reflect that bias, and some folks don't appreciate bias. Same is true of members who work for a particular manufacturer. While it's good that they appear here and represent their stuff and offer factual replies and support, it's also pretty well understood that they are biased .. naturally ... towards their own products.
anyway, Liam, hope you don't feel like anyone took a shot at you here.
and JimmyM, while not an official endorser, you have certainly been waay solidly behind MB gear .. and in some cases, got some grief for a pretty aggressive (what!, not JimmyM) and fairly one way view of this manufacturers stuff.
bias is tricky
hope everyone has a good Memorial Day - peace

...since I'm no longer a Genz Benz endorser, if I state the same things which I stated while I *was* an endorser, do they somehow now have more validity?
How does this work now?
Cheers,Liam
Went through the posts and pulled out the following recommendations.
Kept it under 50lbs for cabs. Many of the vendors have cabs that have similar weight/sizes/connector types with different speaker combinations. I attempted to list the lightest ones. There are new "light weight" products coming out all the time so YMMV.
Cabs.
