old school tone, but portable

Wow that is indeed high praise. I'm curious in what way did it improve on the what your b15 did?

At the low end, particularly a low B. That was never any of my B-15's forte. There's no hyped high end like many tweetered cabs with SS heads (but the highs are nice), it's smooth like the B-15's with similar punch that I loved with mine (I had at least three over the years). It sounds about as far from that stereotypical hard SS sound as possible. I was hoping the B200-R would build on that, haven't had a chance to check one out yet. The only shortcoming is hanging in a more than medium loud mix unaided. B-15's have the same issue IME.

BTW I set the tone controls at 5-3-3-5, turn the voicing switches off and it's happy time:D. I let a buddy check out my BN6 F Bass through one in a store and he was hooked.

Cool. I'd love to try one but alas the 2 stores in town still have the same 4 peaveys that they had in 1998 so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I assume the settings above relate to the B100R and not the B15? I have the B15S which has a little more fire power. I've done a jam and a couple of rehearsals and I think its probably enough for the r&b/soul stuff we do at least in a smallish venue. I'm very fortunate to play with guys that keep their volume down.

Yeah, those are B100-R settings.

As far as volume, I play with a lot of different people and while most exercise restraint, it only takes one gig with no PA support and someone who doesn't play well with the other kids to make you leary of the next time.
:D

Yeah I've used the B100r quite a bit and really like it. It just responds in that punchy warm old-school way that I like. Just natural good-sounding bass IMHO.

But man, at 65lbs and three flights....I don't think so. I wish I could just have that exact same amp just have it weigh 25 less pounds!

IMO, my requirements would be:
1) Be able to carry amp, bass, cab in one trip
2) Limit weight to about 30lbs, max 36lbs for the cab, 5lbs for the amp, 10lbs for bass/gig bag.
3) Carry with one arm (and switch arms) coming down 3 flights of stairs

Afa cab/combo weight goes, based on my previous post, the list would include the following:
